Sanssouci, the book must have been not really memorable/interesting enough if you cannot even remember the name xD

mem, haha maybe :D? I mean it's not like I would buy a teen book ever again, it's just that I have some books like that at my parents' home from when I was young so I grabbed it when I wanted to read something :)

@Julez: Yeah, I get that, my personal library mostly has young adult fantasy xD I'm still figuring out the genre and types of books I like, I've had a major break from reading.
But there are also adults who genuinely enjoy the young adult novels so idk, maybe it's a thing :mclaugh:

I'm some 100 pages away from finishing that book, omg, the tension! :mcsquee:

I go through spurts where I will read a ton of fantasy, then a ton of young adult, then manga, then romance, etc.

I go through fantasy and mangas. I usually throw in a teen fantasy occasionally. I want to mix in some mysteries, but I never know where to start since I know nothing about the authors and the like.

I think that's why adults read young adult, it's refreshing. unless it's annoying. imo, the bane of ya is when teens are written as just dumb adults

an enjoyable ya read I remember is the comic Nimona. part of why I really liked it is that the teen is not dumb

Yeah, sometimes I just need something nice and easy with a happy ending so young adult can be great or even kid books. I especially love Roald Dahl.

Yea I agree, sometimes it's good to read something like that :)

I don't know what I enjoy most, but I think I enjoy many different genres. But I suppose fantasy is my favourite.

I like YA when the protagonist has to navigate a difficult and unfamiliar situation, like the Hunger Games, where she's written as someone who is mature but also going through all those confusing hormone things and having to make big decisions. Rather than, as you say, a dumb adult haha. More like it could be anyone of any age but they are thrust into some fantasy situation, and you can sympathise with their decisions.

I finished the book on Saturday :mccool: Last few chapters were intense, now I want to read the second part XD It had some cliche parts but not too many. Mostly it was a bit too quick with pacing but I suppose it might be my preference to third person narrative and past tense and this was written in first person and present tense. I like my breathing space xD
Then there was a very long slow moment I was super frustrated with and just as I thought I might burst the right thing happened and there was a lot of suspence and intensivity since then until the end. I don't quite like the way one of the main conflicts was resolved, it went by too fast for my taste. And I don't like how this ending collides with the future of the romance in the second book. Just be good kids, smooch, marry, bang till the end of the world and I'll be happy :mclaugh:
