(Which makes me think of my great-Aunt "Dot". Her folks wanted a traditional "American" name and used Dorothy -> Dot. Apparently they also then dressed her in polka dots a lot when she was little. Sometimes you have to wonder. Then they died, my great-grandparents adopted her, and she didn't have to wear polka-dots any longer unless she wanted to, and she tells me these days she saves it for her "Sweet Little Old Lady" act, which apparently is a useful revenge tool at the DMV? Somehow. I am never entirely sure how much to believe Aunt Dot's stories.)
