Kitalpha if you don't use buttonhole techniques, how would you keep the edges of the holes from fraying?

Or you can get thin cord and have it be small loops for the lacing to feed through

Hm, I don't have any metal things but sewing a cord pattern on with little loops to feed the laces through could be really interesting! Especially if I use a 'pirate'-y version, maybe twine or something else that evokes ship rigging lines.

While my first cosplay doesn't have lacing, I use a similar idea to hold the vest shut
So long it's suitably reinforced, i don't see why using it as the eyes for the lacing would be a problem
Unless you make them too big lol

Akili, I doubt I will dress up for Halloween.
We have a bar in our dorm and there will be a themed evening for Halloween as well, but I don't have costumes and neither the time, nor the energy to think about one. :/ As it is really the only occasion I would need a costume for for now, I don't want to get one.

I'm probably going to dress up but to the extreme simplest form.

Nothing in mind haha But if I do choose, let's say a cat, I'd just wear a cat headband or something. I've given up on putting effort. I get so lazy
