Thanks for the link!
It's indeed a fascinating article, although the "omg he's saying something sciency, it melts my brain"-tone of the author REALLY annoyed me.
I really wonder what this biggest market that one wouldn't guess is now though :D

And yay for Joslyn doing so well in math she's doing advanced stuff :) That's great!

It’s unfortunately such a common attitude it’s white noise to me now... I majored in math, and the usual reaction when I tell people that is math is hard!

Science and math are based on logic—what does it say that, in general, people regard them as “too difficult”?

But lol math was a horrible choice for me. Deciphering transcribed equations is terrible.

I thought multiplications were next, but nope. And she does do a little multiplications at home. She asked me about those.

Wow, good for her. I don’t know the specific programs where you live, but there are math competitions (the really fun ones involve word problems and proofs). Maybe she’d be good at them someday.

Doesn't sound like fun at all to me LoL

I know it's common, but somehow I'm not able to just ignore it, the commonness of it makes me only more angry -.-
And I agree with you, the things it says about a society to shun math and science are not good. I hate how some people seem to be proud of being bad at math, it sometimes seems like it's the chic thing to people... Makes me irrationally angry. How are young people who do like it and are good at it supposed to feel? "Oh, you're liking this super useful thing that I was not good at? You must be be a weirdo, cause I'm proud to be bad at it"
I mean, it's fine that not everyone is good at it, I completely understand that. I'm not good at a lot of things either, but I never view or present that as something positive. It just makes no sense at all to me.
Argh... I should stop ranting :D

But then again, I might not be completely unbiased - I'm studying computer science after all ;)

omg omg my people. I never got far with comp sci because one of my hands doesn’t work well and typing is rather inefficient, but it’s an amazing field. So many possibilities!

My brothers are also into comp sci. They’re a lot smarter than I am, and seeing what they’re doing is always very cool.

Do you have any side projects?

Yeah, it's great, there's so many different areas one can go into :)
I initially started out in physics, but that was definitely not for me. I'm much happier with and better at computer science.
I don't really have any hobby comp sci projects, I like to spend my free time on other stuff - for me it's a great field that I like as a professional thing, but it's not my whole life.
In my free time I spend my creative juices crafting or writing or things like that.

One of my brothers is interested in AI, I think. It’s such a huge field, though, so that doesn’t mean much. The other once said he’ll work for the first brother.

My dad’s in physics, doing something complicated and incomprehensible. I think he wrote a cool thesis, which I do not understand.

That’s cool. :D I like writing too, though the typing thing rears its head again.

Here’s a joke:

I love eating my family and not using commas.

I actually dislike AI in principle, but ended up about to start a master's thesis that uses it anyway :D

Well, you can in principle write by hand, but that makes it more difficult to share what you've written, which is fun, too.

Haha, that is a good one :D
