Okay, -40.
/tries hard to memorize this, it seems like the sort of odd factoid that would be useful to know

10°F / -12.2°C here this morning. Humidity is key though. It's about 50% here right now. I've been in 0°F / -17.8°C weather before at 5% humidity in Colorado, and it was kind of nice. Contrast that to 15°F / -9.4°C at 85% humidity in Alabama, and, oh my goodness, what a deep bone ache! I do not fully understand how there can be that much water in the air that far below freezing.

I admit to not understanding weather terminology well...
My impression is maybe incorrect.
But.
Isn't the humidity percentage a relative percentage?

As in, 100% humidity means there is precipitation, in whatever form -snow/sleet/rain/hail/whatever.

So a 50% humidity when it's warm would have a higher water particle density than a 50% humidity when it's cold, because how much the air can hold before it precipitates changes.

That said, high humidity always seems to render the temperature more intense subjectively. Highly humid heat just feels hotter, and highly humid cold definitely feels colder!!

Had to turn on my tower heater on top of the strip heater. Seems kinda chilly today.

"Humidity is the concentration of water vapor in the air", sayeth many sources. But it does seem like there should be a few layers on that! Like, 100% humidity in fog is not the same as 100% humidity in rain, 'cause you gonna get much wetter in the rain than the fog. And if anything below 0°C can freeze water, how is water able to hang in the air to stay at something awful like 85% in below freezing weather? Although, cool note while reading just now, "hoar frost" is what happens when the water vapor does start to freeze and fall out of the air!

@ Akili Li:
I have no idea, but after reading Difference Between, it would seem relative humidity is the one that comes with the % sign and absolute humidity uses g/m3 as a unit, so I reckon it is relative humidity then...? Science is cool, but also confusing, in part due to English recycling too many words for similar things. @w@

Humidity totally amps the "feels like", no denying that!

That is an amazing site and it is now bookmarked and I just *know* I am going to be spending way too much time on it soon...

Also, I did not know that was how hoarfrost happened!
