@Urban Myth
Hello, I'm glad you were still able to get some sleep on this hot weather. Do you have an air conditioning system in your room? It's too hard for me to catch some sleep during day time, specially on this toasty summer weather condition :qsweat:

Hi everyone! I don't know much about anime or manga (almost everyone on this site does so it's quite embarrassing for me to say), I used to watch some animes with my brother and read some manga but I haven't done that in ages! Although I want to re-watch fullmetal alchemist again. Has anyone seen it?

It's actually quite chilly in California (US) right now, And I'm kinda sick of it. But when it starts to get hotter I know I'll be sick of it in like a week :mcsweat: I hate constant weather :mclol:

I was here for a bit, but then people left. :c

Full Metal Alchemist is the best! 8D I was really excited to hear they released Brotherhood, which is more similar to the manga, so people watching the anime could experience what the original author intended. I love that FMA has deep themes, but can also be enjoyed by younger audiences who may not be aware of them. :3

If you guys have time, you should also check out Silver Spoon, which is the same author's next work. :D It's not like FMA at all, but I still really enjoy it because it's a casual slice of life that just makes you smile. :3

I don't really watch anime, but I was happy when brotherhood came out because it was easier for my English-speaking friends to understand why I was so excited about the manga.

Silver spoon is great :D I love Arakawa Hiromu. Such a great manga artist. Such an amazing sense of humour. I also love that some of it's set in the neighbourhood where my grandmother loved for a while.

I don't really watch anime either because I feel like it's time consuming. xD; The manga has been translated for the longest time, I'm surprised they didn't know about it? o.o

I think her style is more simplistic so it's not the greatest "art," but I do really enjoy her style because it makes everything look much cleaner. I guess that does make her a great artist? I just know some of my friends had problem with her art style. :c

Are you from Japan? :o

I'm half Japanese and I grew up there :)

I agree with you. That's the reason I don't watch anime. I can read manga so much faster. My friends probably wouldn't read manga. Anime is just more accessible... Plus you don't need to get used to the Japanese right-to-left panels...

I'm really not certain I would call her art simplistic... 0_0 especially from the point of view of thinking about actually drawing something like that myself.
I would die if I put that sort of detail into my comics, and her anatomical accuracy is pretty fantastic. I would say it's on the detailed side for a boy's comic. Her coloured pictures are not her best strength maybe, but her comic composition is exemplary too.
Though, of course, her real strong point is her amazing ability to construct complicated plots that are serious and funny at the same time.

Yay, our hang out is getting alive and active again. Thanks guys!

and oh, welcome aboard dawn123 & Jessicat *shakes hands* Hope you'll have fun hangin' around with us. This thread is not only exclusive for all anime and manga talks. Feel to free to chat any topics you're most comfortable with ^_^

@Hikarisoul16 I was a big fan of Full Metal Alchemist before. My sister got me hooked into it. Yeah, I love it's "deep theme". Though there were blood and gore on some of the episodes, I believe it was still acceptable for the younger audiences given that they're guided by adults. The episode where Maes Hughes was killed by Homonculus Envy was really emotional. That is one of the most unforgetable episode for me. It got me into tears >_<

Anyways, hope you're all doing good my fellow Otakus!

Hallo fielkun!

I do like talking about manga (and I have no friends to talk about it with) so this is probably a good hangout for me. I've just been very shy and didn't venture into many hangouts until very recently!

I'm generally quite active, so I'll stick around :3
