They're called Ball Joint Dolls. Many of them are capable of standing on their own, and most are very very pose-able. The ones I like typically range from 58cm-64cm in height. There's TONS of styles and races and skin tones and designs and such, but I prefer ones with Pale skin, pretty eye shapes, and slender cheeks, noses and jaw lines. However, I've seen some BJD's with pointy facial features... well.. that's a bit too slender for me. lol.
