Oh, I see. That is a bit of a problem.
What is it that you want to do?

I want to be a translator, but I'm mostly either inexperienced or I don't know wanted languages or I know them too little to actually translate from/to them... It's pissing me off, because I actually have almost 2 years of experience, but no one seems to notice that because my official position was "Assistant".
So now I'm considering learning some more common language and see if that helps me...

Well enough to translate, I only know English. I forgot my Hindi and Japanese, I used to be on a pretty darn good level, but haven't used them. And anyways, there's no demand for those two. And English is either not enough, they want another language too, or they tell me I have no experience etc.

why is it so extremely important? For what I see there's more demand for German or French.

ALOT of places are heavily influenced with spanish, but again it depends where u live and surrounding areas
