I'm thinking of/starting to learn Korean at the moment because it looks set to be a heavily influential power in coming years, especially if things continue with the North and South making peace. I see it in a lot of sectors already, and now they are becoming dominant in fashion as well, I thought I should learn it since that's my working niche.

ALOT of places are heavily influenced with spanish, but again it depends where u live and surrounding areas
Trade sent.
Yeah, well, I live in Poland, not US

Although I can say that I'd be more willing to learn Spanish than re-learn German or start with French, I don't dig those two XD

9 x Red Diamond
18 x Star
...
Side note, you have SO many materials, omg.
I didn't realize.
Why, yes I do, that's why so many of them are free XD
@jacob: Korean is also getting more popular in here, my bf blames it on Samsung XD But yes, Chinese and Korean are far more popular in Poland than Japanese or any other Asian language. I mean the demand in jobs, because of course Japanese is still a pretty popular language, I think Japanese studies are second in popularity after Chinese studies.

It seems pretty fun to learn. Although I want to learn how to speak first, then how to read later, and all I can find are courses that teach you the written language first instead. That doesn't work well for my learning style.

Throwing in my two cents, I want to learn Korean too!
It seems like a practical move, but also the language is fun?
And it's different enough from what I've learned in the past so that's challenging.
So far I only know how to read/write the characters and ... like. Greetings? Pff.
Small, repeatable things that you'd hear a lot on shows/movies/songs. ; u;
@Mem
Do you dig every day?
I've had spurts where I try to dig as frequently as I can, but I get lazy. D:
I've considered only doing it for my 100lvl knuffels bc I have cupcakes and apples for them.

@Fran: I try to dig every day, sometimes it's every other day. I have cupcakes and apples for all my regular knuffs so it's not such a big problem.
@Luna: What do you mean by 'you never know where you have to move or travel to'? I don't really intend on moving outside Poland, least of all to Germany. And I think people plan their travels? Going by that, everybody would have to learn every language possible

I had a job offer in Athens, but I refused, so I think people actually have some influence over where they live and what language they have to speak.
@jacob: I'm not much of a speaker, I rather learn to read and write first XD Although I believe one should learn everything at once, learning the alphabet along with the pronunciation etc. It's easier. I don't think I'd be able to learn a language your way, I learn by visualizing

@Fran same, I'm learning only the specialised vocab that gets used over and over again on the specific shows I watch XD
@Mem: I think I just have to have a grounding in something I can understand first. So learning with Anglicised spellings, like "anyonghaseyo" for example, I can learn that word and how to say it. But when I'm staring at squiggly characters that mean nothing to me, I can't connect them to the translation at all in my head.
But also yes, I'm a speaker more than a reader or writer when I'm learning languages :D

Trade sent, Luna.
I don't think I will ever have to move to another country unless Poland gets in a war. Doesn't seem like it for now. If we ever decided to move, we'd probably move to Sweden or another Scandinavian country.
