@Hot: I try not to kill spiders anymore, unless they give me no other choice. I'll try to let them free outside if I can. But it takes a lot of energy out of me, they're so gross and I have a phobia :mcargh: It's lessened though, since I realized they kind of serve a purpose and we share a few enemies, like mosquitoes and wasps and what not.

@Amura: Nah, it's fine, I'm actually bad with topics xD I'm happy you guys keep this hangout alive :qh:

On another topic, I finally got invested in the book I'm reading. I had a long break from any reading and now that I got into it again my own creative juices started flowing. I might write something :mclaugh: For now I've only been writing down info about my characters and just reminding myself stuff. I haven't touched that "book" for years... :mcsweat:

And which book are you reading, that encouraged you to work on your own story?

I would love to hear about your characters, if you want to share :mccute:

I'm reading Children of Virtue and Vengeance by Tomi Adeyemi. There's a motif of people meeting in so called dreamscapes and I had something similar in mind for my book, but of course not exactly the same. I've had that idea way before I read this book (it's the second volume to Children of Blood and Bone) and it just inspired me to explore it further.
I have an idea for a scene and I just need to convince my brain that I can and should write it down since it's quite short and probably not difficult to write at all.

Oh man, I wouldn't know where to begin :mcheh: Funny thing is one of my characters name is Asherin XD I borrowed the name from my ex (it feels weird to write that word... I've never had an ex before...) way back, it was his favorite nick name for any games accounts and such. He had no issue with lending the name for my book.
So there's Asherin, Shpresa, Verena, Andebert, Shemal, I think Gisela might play a bigger part, too. I have a shitton of characters, there's so many and I need to come up with a few more to make things more natural and realistic :mcargh: For example Verena is blind and has been raised in her mother's country, away from her actual birth family (Andebert being her father and king os Asuria) so I always planned a sort of another mother figure for her but the thing is I never even bothered to design that character, so she only has a name. And she just wasn't present in the story at all. So like wtf, she should be there if she's important. Or I should scratch her out entirely.

Maybe you could pick a notebook (hey, notebooks again! XD) and compromise to dedicate a whole page to each character, independently of their importance.
Their character, their struggles, a bit of their backstory.

Maybe after you get to know the characters better, you know whether they are meant to be part of the story or not.
And sometimes even though they are not part of it directly, any reference to them will make more sense?

Hey, I almost feel like writing myself too.
Nah, it'll pass xD

Oh I have a whole lot of documents dedicated to each character. the main ones, the side ones... But there'sa lot of versions and I need to compare them all and make one final version. Luckily I have a lot of big sheets of paper so maybe I'll be able to do that. I haven't felt such big inspiration to work on it since forever.

Oh yeah, definitely. I'm already pondering some characters that might be unnecessary. And some I might need to add, like I said.
Shpresa's brother seems to only have one purpose in the story and now that I think about it, he should either be more than just that, or I should save him for another story. But like you said, I should try to figure it out while remembering what the characters are.

What would you write if you wanted to?
It will pass pretty quickly, inspiration is a mean B XD

That's so awesome, that you are doing so much work.

I don't know, my head is always full of stories. I've created in my mind stories in all the genres I like, and I even wrote some synopsis of those I thought were worth exploring... but I never really did.
I think that if I were to write something, I would try something in fantasy or sci-fi. targeted to younger readers (I work with teenagers, so that would probably be it) but not too juvenile. Because I'm often bothered that nowadays novels for teens are so so so very dull, I feel it's almost patronizing (oh, let's have plain plots and cliche characters, because teen readers can't read proper books ¬¬)

But it's just a dream, not something I've ever worked toward actively.

I think so, too. I've missed it :mccry: There's so much work to do, though. I'm afraid I'll get distracted with world building again. In fact, I should be working on characters while I'm actually now writing down info about international relations... Which is useless at this point, really.
Okay, I've convinced myself, now I can do some proper work xD

You should write at least one story! Even if it might be a short story, I think it would be a nice experience to have.

I used to write short stories when I was younger... but I don't think I've kept any.

Now I'm more into telling stories.
Every night I create a new adventure for my son, it's his bedtime tale.
Lately's he's been asking for gerbil stories, so now we have a gerbil who travels the world by boat :mclaugh:

I know spiders are good for something but like. If they’re crawling around in my house, I don’t want them there. And catch and release is sometimes too much work for it’s worth. So I just kill them.

I write occasionally. Not a lot but in short bursts.

Yeah, I don't want any kind of bugs in my flat either, even if they are not "bad" bugs.
Just because I'm better off without them, plain as that.
