I'm ok with Disney making child versions of the classic tales.
What bothers me is that people don't read classics anymore and they think THAT is the original story :|

Well i know better, i at least know some of the original fairy tales stories….8u some of them can be just downright gruesome. I remember Cinderella was particularly bloody at the end. And Sleeping Beauty was downright nasty.

Yeah, Cinderella was so vengeful.
But, come one, you can adapt that (instead of physical punishment, she could have vanished them from the kingdom or something like that) without turning her into a goody-goody who forgives everything and still keeps her smile.
Even if you want her to behave as such a lovely lady, her handsome prince could have kicked their asses for being such mean bitches.
That would have been a good morale 8D

And Sleeping Beauty, well, in the oldest versions she gets pregnant while aslept. And if I recall correctly there is not only rape, but someone (who?) eats the children? I may be making that up though.
But I think Perrault's version was not that gore anymore, and that's probably the most popular classic version, so I'm just so fine with removing it all. It was disgusting after all.



Have any of you watched the old Snow White movie, the one with Sigourney Weaver in it?
That was a cool adaptation for adult viewers - without being too gore either.

I don't think I've ever seen that movie.

It's not really an horror movie.
But do you know that a Disney movie would sweeten everything as much as possible?
This does exactly the opposite: goes dramatic and dark whenever possible.

I watched it 10 years ago, or even more, and I don't remember the details. But I think it was a bit intense towards the end (crazy witch stepmom going real crazy).

Yeah Cinderella was pretty vengeful. There were versions where in order to fit into the shoes, the stepsisters would cut off their toes and heels and the little birds would twitter and go “oh look they’re bleeding, the shoe doesn’t fit!” And then the birds would later peck out their eyes…8u

And i didn’t hear about eating children for Sleeping Beauty but def heard about how the prince/king who finds her just up and rapes her and she has like two children or something before she’s woken up. That’s just nasty on all levels. 8u

Not a lot, but it's as dark as it can, within the story.
I mean, it's not a whole completely different retelling, but if someone is bleeding you'll see some blood, if someone has reason to be scared she'll be running and screaming, the atmosphere is darker.
And the dwarfs are not dwarfs. Which is something I loved :D
I think the main difference is the prince, which is completely different from the original story.

On IMDB you mean?
Yes, it translates the titles into whatever language is spoken in your country.
If the movie/series has been released and translated into that language, which means some titles are translated and others are not.

I personally don't love it, but I see the point.
