If I didn't know the base hairstyle, I would have thought it's part of it. It took me a moment anyway, I was like "oh, that's a cute style with the braid in the front, which one is that?" and when I looked at it a little harder, I noticed I knew the base and it must be an extension. I'm still not sure what item the extension is, actually, though :D
