Time and money. That and the clown shit was happening at the time so dressing as Hisoka might have been a bad idea.

Ah, that's unfortunate. Are you planning on doing it next Halloween though?

I enjoy the relationships between the characters, the surprising strength of some characters, the energy from Gon and Killua is adorable and sucks you in. Hisoka is my favorite character and one of my favorite anime characters of all time.
I know what you mean; it's a captivating series.

They are~ I think all of them suit each other because they're all comedy duos XD I'm debating whether I should start reading hxh manga or actually do something productive today ~.~
Ah, I see. Well, comedy is entertaining.
I would definitely recommend the HxH manga. If the beginning's too tough for you to go through, just start where they left off in the anime. That's what I did during the end of the original anime --I started where they left off, then went and read it again from the beginning.

Those are some good selections. Togashi creates some powerful female characters, and while it was a shame that there are so few of them, I'm glad that that seemed to change as the story progressed.
lunar_eclipse66 wrote:I don't think I would like to meet him either. I'm not sure if the conversation would be interesting because he doesn't give away a lot of what is on his mind. Killua is so adorable, and his growth is so heartwarming.
Part of Hisoka's charm is how deceptive he is. Certain aspects of him are very straightforward (his lust, bloodlust, general desires, motivation to a degree...), but even so, he enjoys playing games to the degree that would have you question what you know about him. He can be changeable, and I don't think it'd be far-fetched for me to think that he would contradict himself at times just to throw you off or mess with you. He seems to enjoy provoking people, yet his charisma, playful nature, and confidence makes him an attractive character.
The scary thing about Illumi is that you're screwed if you hold his interest in any form. If you're a target, he'll kill you. If you're someone he loves, he'll manipulate the hell out of you, using your own fears in a way that will force you to bend to his will.
Illumi and Hisoka are so twisted in different ways, but are portrayed as both being confident, intelligent (or cunning), and (generally) collected individuals. I really like the fact that they are able to form the alliance that they have, even if they aren't above manipulating or betraying each other.

That temporary alliance is one example of the complicated relationships between the characters that I love. You know at any point the whole thing can be broken off and its such a fragile relationship. It keeps you on your toes. The relationships between members of the phantom troupe are also interesting because even though they are all there for their boss, individual members have complex relationships with each other.

I agree, Lunar!
Possible HxH spoilers for Yorkshin:
Spoiler
I really love the different relationships and alliances formed among the characters; it adds depth and complexity to the story. The Yorkshin arc was beautiful in the way that they did that --interesting from the protagonist's side (with the auction dude and Melody and Kurapika's coworkers), but even more awesome on the Spider's end. Although the Troupe is full of vastly different characters with different views of the organization and the value of its leader, they are all loyal (sans Hisoka) in their own way.
I almost want to compare them to the Zoldyck family as well, although they're not a parallel, they do have a number of similarities. Both groups value their "family" and have one member (Chrollo and Killua) who they seem to place in especially high esteem. However, there's also one character (Hisoka and Killua) who don't hold the same values as the general collective.
Talking about Hunter makes me want to reread the New World arc again. It's refreshing to know that Togashi can still incorporate these great new concepts into the story after Hunter has been out for so long.
(I would say the same about Oda as well. The downside of Oda is that One Piece sometimes drags as an anime, but his characters and backstories are often interesting, and I really enjoy the different worlds he creates.)

The Yorkshin arc is a work of art! So much deception, so much action, so many emotions.
I watched the original arc and the 2011 redo and they are both so amazing!

I was on the edge of my seat for most of that arc; it's probably my favorite. I also really enjoyed the Chimera Ant arc; it was also intense in many ways. I came to appreciate Killua more because of that arc, but became angry at Gon in that same arc. My third favorite arc is the New World (manga-only, currently), but that's because I can appreciate the concept of it. I enjoyed most of the arcs with the exception of the election arc, though. (The characters introduced in that arc were visually intriguing, but there was too much going on for the reader to get to know many of them properly, unlike the Chimera Ant arc).
What about you; do you have a favorite arc?
Do you have a preference between the original anime and the remake?
I prefer the tones of the original (as well as the opening songs), but I can appreciate the remake.
