Apartment inspections?
What are apartment inspections? From the landlady or what?

We get one from the landlady and one from section 8 every year.

the landlady comes by to state i'm not cleaning the apartment to her ocd standards

section 8, as long as its basic clean, and everything works, they pass us..

we once had section 8 pass us and a week later the landlady fail us because the kitchen sink wasn't 'shiny'

*looks up section 8*
Oh, I see. Makes sense.

But the landlady? Why does she inspect the apartment?
I mean, making sure everything is working would make some kind of sense, but why do they care that it's clean?
Even if it's completely dirty it won't make any difference to her...

When I heard section 8, I keep thinking like men in black people lol. XD;; I don’t think we have a section 8 here.

Apartment complexes, at least ones run by companies and cooperations like this place is, don't want 'filthy' apartments.

The previous landlady was like section 8, as long as it was clean then she passed us.

This one.. she's super OCD and if it's not up to her standard of clean, she screws you over.

We don't have anything like that here either.
I mean, there are economical subsidies for housing, but you don't have to pass any kind of inspection - you either need it or not, depending on the money you earn.

So your landlady can write a negative report or something and they may... what? Kick you out? What could they do?

Wow.
Landlords really have a lot of power there! :mcshock:

I don't think it can be shiny as new.
Well, I don't think my sink has ever been shiny. Clean, yes. Shiny, no.

i mean, we have management here at the complex but they only do things like.....remind us of noise and garbage and keep up maintenance like plowing snow and cutting grass, and planting flower boxes or something. xD

Here you can't kick a tenant out so easily.
Even if you have good reasons. A judge must say so, which is an slow procedure.

My parents rented one apartment. The tenant stopped paying.
They have to go to court, which happened a year later. A year later without paying rent nor bills (which my parents had to pay from their pocket).
The tenant was a jerk, and she was so annoyed that my parents claimed the rent that she decided to leave ALL the faucets open and ALL the lights on ALL THE TIME so she could cause them as much expenses as she could.

The court ruled - obviously - she had to go, but still she would not.
My parents had to call the police, and it took them days to check everything was in order before they actually kicked out.
In the meantime she made a checklist (which she left in the apartment, she had a sense of humour) of all the stuff she should steal or break before leaving.

My parents never rented that apartment again.
