Don't worry about it Meta, mine are mostly high gens or commons, and I usually exalt most of them anyways. When I get my coatls set up though they will be first gens and be on the costly side.

I don't quite get what you are saying about the high and first gens - I assume you mean generations, as in, how far away from progens they are? But why would first gens be costlier? Because you can be sure you can breed them with many other dragons because they are related to fewer or something? Or maybe a completely different reason or gen means something else entirely? Just a newbie who has no idea and is trying to understand this stuff here...
Also, what do you mean by commons? Their breed being one of the four you can choose in the beginning?

Yes, what you said about the gens is correct, the lower the generation of dragon the less likely there's a chance of them being related. Reason this is important in this game is because you cannot breed two dragons together that are within five generations of relation to one another. Not to mention there are people who like to have 'pure' breeds so to say, like a cat breeder or dog breeder.
Well, the four you pick from are considered plentiful, while Pearlcatcher, Ridgeback, Spiral and Snapper are considered common. Then Skydancers are uncommon, and rares are Wildclaws and Coatls. Imperials are exclusive, which if I remember correctly is because they were from the kickstarter or something.
