Don't take dragons from charities that say "no exalt". Seriously. Just don't. That's the best tip I can give you.

Yeah, don't do no exalts until you have lair space. And even then you might have second thoughts. They'll know when you exalt them too.
Also, don't exalt progens. They're worth a lot of money and you can gene them later.

No offense to those who play like that but the "don't exalt progens" rule is a matter of taste and of the player's method, sure you don't gain anything from exalting them but you'll never sell their offspring, they're exalt fodder, unless you're lucky enough to get two close-range progens (highly unlikely)

I've exalted progens before, mostly cause I don't even pay attention to that honestly o':
I mean I still have my first 2 dragons, but I've exalted dragons I got out of scavenged eggs before cause they were ugly.
