Ha, just when I thought I should make a post I see the subject has already come up c':

I'm safe! Everyone is being cautioned to stay inside and we've got the highest level of security alert nationwide. For now we're just waiting and watching for the news updates

Glad you're alright, at least!

I'm guessing the highest security measures are "everyone stay inside and don't read Harry Potter erotica go outside unless absolutely necessary."

It means all government buildings are on lockdown, there's extra security at public buildings and public transport, schools in Brussels are on lockdown/closed, everyone should stay indoors and the media all will have regular safety updates every 30 mins.

Normally they should reopen most things like schools and public buildings by tomorrow already, right now they're mostly doing threat assessments. I don't know about the actual center/surroundings of Brussels but so far the national alert has been set at 3 days but they'll probably build down the alert over the next 3 days.

casey: I'm sorry. Shit like that seems to come so out of nowhere that it's literally like getting kicked in the face.
I know Aki told me a friend of hers got killed not long ago because he was trying to protect two other people.

I know it's not the same, but we had a family friend visit us for the 4th of July, and like a month later, his family came to tell us he had died.
It shocked me so bad, that for several months, I was still shocked.

I'm glad your mum's doing a little better.

I saw about Brussels earlier.
I don't understand any of these terrorism incidents.
I don't understand how people can be so cruel and violent to others they don't know.
