aw, the thread icons in the announcement forum have changed, how cute!
honestly I barely use that forum :/ I think the reason why you can't earn event currency there is to prevent people from flocking to that forum and actually engage in conversations during the event to keep the forums alive

well... like I said I don't frequent the forum myself, but some games that I just clicked on are definitely just spam. the numbers game and alphabet game are prime examples of spam disguised as a game. you post a number/letter and hello fp! which is not to say ALL games are spam, I'm sure many of them aren't spammy at all and are really great game threads!
BUT, regardless of whether they're spam or not (and some might not be) they don't actually require any conversation or engagement and I think that might be the reason why you can't earn currency there

Aaaaanyway, nah I don't really think Word Games should be a grinding forum. Crappy posts in the chat or not, it does fulfill the idea behind the whole "socialize and get stuff" thing going on with the event. My opinion though.

leaving one post and then disappearing is hardly socializing...
if socializing is the whole point then frankly very few forums currently fit this criteria.
hangouts, extended discussions, life issues & game talk are the only threads where i've seen people 'socialize'.
@casey: then those threads belong in the spam subforum, not in the word games. .-.
i have never seen a site where word games would be disabled from earning event currency before :/
idk sorry guys i'm just bitter about this because word games used to be fun but then most people left and it's not anymore and i feel like part of the reason is because it's been downgraded into spam and now no one feels like it's worth it to post there anymore .-.

I totally get it and it is within your right to show that to Firn specially because with that thread came along so many issues that need to be worked on which is very important! plus if it is getting empty then something def needs to change to accomodate people
