Huh, you got me curious myself, so I went and counted the items on some presaved avvies. I think I average in the high tens, lower twenties.
My current avvie only has 11 items, but I'm not surprised. I generally like to layer with ton of head items, accessories, and animal parts. Since I kept this avvie simple, there are less items than usual.
