Poshi, I agree, it is difficult to read... I've read the hobbit as a child once, I really liked it (as far as I can remember), but when I read it last year (after seeing all the movies) it progressed to slowly and the style was difficult.
Anyone read Narnia? That's pretty similar.

I have the full series of Narnia, my mom bought it for me. It was nice, but honestly, I hardly remember it now

I thought it was also pretty hard to read. I still like it though. It is no leisure read, but I have to concentrate on it.
One can really see that Tolkien and Lewis were friends.
