I hate when feeling like that springs up out of nowhere.
Thankfully, it did go away.
I wish I didn't feel like that ever.
I think I need a real antidepressant.
I was taking three and they took two away.
Just need to go to the doctor, which is very hard because I don't want to leave home xD;
My sister got tested for COVID so we're waiting for the results.

Oh, that's what you were watching.
I'll watch you stream some day.
When I play DBD, I rely a lot on sound so I can't watch anything or listen to music xD;

Names have meanings to them. And those meaning are derived from that person's culture. When stripped of that culture and name meanings .. it's like saying 'your culture is stupid and doesn't matter, your in america now, use american names"
Thats no different than someone saying, "your in america, speak english!" to someone who hasn't learned the language, or speaks it in a very thick accent.
It's worse when you know that america did this to actual people immigrating to america. "Your name is too hard to pronounce and spell so your bob from now on" They were stripped of their cultural identities to make things easier for the authorities. =3=
It's also pretty much calling the people of america 'too stupid to learn to pronounce something" =3=
It's also worse when you hear that the Japanese actually were led to believe for the longest time that if the characters names weren't changed to easier sounding names. And if the places in the series weren't changed to some place in america or canada, the show wouldn't be received well here in the states.
The internet expanded, fan sub fans raged at the localizations and eventually it stopped.. well some content still gets localized.. from time to time. I think Pokemon still goes through name changes.
I guess I don't understand because when the Japanese shows came over to Korea they all got updated Korean names, too. Plus, I wasn't allowed to enroll into Canadian elementary school until I made myself an English name, and for me personally, it was great because I never liked my Korean name while I got to pick the name I liked for English.
And while I can see your point about respecting the cultures for names that are really normal Japanese names, but when the names are play-on-words like Rabbit FromtheMoon, OhISee Ryuuichi, or Spiral FishCakes, I don't know if keeping the original names is really respecting the culture. I think in those cases, changing the name to a play-on-words to make it easier to translate the jokes into English might be better, such as Pheonix Wright. I always find it a shame when some story points on a character's name gets lost because the original was kept or it was Romanized to remove the meaning. For example, Boyfriend and I were watching Squid Game and the North Korean girl tells the main character that her name is SaeByuk and he tells her that her name doesn't fit her personality. It doesn't make sense unless you know that her name means Dawn. Some subtitlers are great in adding cultural information when that happens, but the ones responsible for Squid Game didn't do that, so I had to pause the show to explain to Boyfriend. And I think it's a shame that most people who don't know Korean would miss that bit.
And then there are cases where the Japanese names actually came from foreign names, such as Mori Ran (Maurice LeBlanc) or Agasa (Agatha Christie). It's a shame that the derivation was lost, but was changing those names really disrespectful to Japanese culture, when they weren't Japanese to begin with?
Sorry for bringing up old topic; I got lost for a while and then I was thinking about Detective Conan today and it made me remember this old conversation.

I usually like them keeping the original names, I don't know, it feels a bit odd when they are translated.
Here it in Spain anime names got a bit ridiculous because they usually came from other countries/languages translations.
So you translate Usagi from Sailor Moon into Bunny, which makes sense in English. But then they translate the series into Spanish and they keep the Bunny name in English.
And that's when the name at least was translatable. I mean, in Captain Tsubasa they all had perfecly natural Japanese names... and I got to hear English names when I watched it in Spanish.
For the difference it makes I would rather hear the original ones.
As a rule of thumb I prefer original ones and having a note regarding translation.

My sister has been sick. Sore throat, coughing, sneezing, fever...
So my mom took her to get tested.
I still think their names should stay the same. If I moved to Japan, I'd expect my name to stay the same. If I moved to Mexico, I'd expect my name to stay the same.
Switching around my name just to fit in with where I am doesn't sit right with me xD
