And then there's the ~50k total troth tokens and the millions upon millions of FP i need to aquire for commons alone. Sold a FC so I'm at 173k but I need nearly 200k for the bananarama update
And then it's back to what's on my wishlist I haven't been able to figure out the wishlist tag tho. I can't get it to show as anything other than blank

I really don't buy commons unless I want to use them in an avatar.
I prefer buying only one piece at a time.

Time limited items is a different thing - you either grab them now or never.
So I try to collect those.

Regarding the Cellphones, I only bought the one in Rose Gold, because it reminds me of an actual cellphone you could see irl, but since I don't make such every-day-real-life avatars, I only got that one and don't intend to buy more of them. I think I only used it once, right after I bought it, and that's it XD

My strategy with Commons is juts like Amura's, I buy things when I need them. Unless I know for sure I'll need that item in all possible colors, that's usually for frames and borders, maybe some accessories, rarely clothes (unless it's Bananarama, 'cause that's cheap and won't make me feel poor after I spend 30k on a dress )

I stopped collecting all possible monthly troth items, I don't use them most of the time, even when I like them ;/ I onlybuy the ones I like and might use, but I always mentally prepare myself for not ever using them xD

I get the monthly troth items, because that's a currency that would be unused otherwise. So I get a new item instead.
But I know I've missed many of them in the last years and I'm not planning on buying them - I don't even know what they are!
