???? What?? I've been traveling in Europe for months, in multiple countries, and I've never noticed any difference between a European toilet and an American toilet?? They look and work exactly the same?? Am I missing something??? What's the difference??

It must be refreshing to be back in a familiar place. I remember being slightly anxious in Japan and not being able to read/speak the language. It's like EFF YES, ENGLISH, HOW I'VE MISSED CONVERSING WITH THE CASHIER.


X'D I feel that! I get horribly flustered when I'm not fluent in the language someone is speaking, so I consistently used the wrong language, even if I knew how to speak the right one.
In Spain (Spanish) - Bowed to everyone I spoke to (more specifically, the bow used when thanking someone in Cambodia)
In Costa Rica (Spanish) - answered in Italian
In Italy (Italian) - talked to everyone in Spanish
In Romania (Romanian, English) - answered everything in Spanish, even when they asked me in English
In Serbia (Serbian, English) - Thanked everyone in German
Back in America, talking with a cashier at the grocery store who very obviously spoke only English - greets in Japanese

Let it be known that I only speak English with any proficiency. I can speak poop baby Spanish, know a handful of words in German and Japanese, and speak basically no Italian. So not only am I using the wrong language, but I'm doing it poorly. ; 3; I suck.

Could you post a picture of what you are talking about?
None of the toilets I've encountered anywhere in Europe (airports, restaurants, bus stations, museums, apartments, hostels, etc.) have looked like anything but normal toilets.
I think I saw ONE squat toilet at a train station in a border town between Romania and Serbia, but there were also normal toilets, as well, so..? Most of the times I've encountered squat toilets were in SEA.
Unless you mean a bideu? But, as far as I know, that's not actually a toilet?
It's just for rinsing off afterwards...right? >>
