Third year Japanese was good! It's the general courses that fail me... The only real problem for Japanese with me is Keigo and Kanji... The rest comes natural to me...

Though at my university they say it's really difficult. >>
We get traditional Japanese and really advanced grammar.

We're used to balancing language, in one day I speak up to three or four languages.... English, French, Dutch and Japanese... Depending on which of my friends are around... One of my friends doesn't understand my Dutch and speaks to me in English, others are from abroad and only speak English and French. Another reason is our professors, one isn't all that fluent in Dutch and it's easier to have a conversation in English and another only speaks French and Japanese... And we've taken a liking to practice our Japanese in everyday conversations among friends so that's always around as well...

Classical Japanese is a different course for us, I agree that that's difficult as well for me... I'm no good at regular sentence dissection in Dutch, let alone in Japanese...


We get the advanced grammar as well, but I'm what you call an instinctive learner, I learn from hearing a language...
I can't sum up the grammar rules, but apparently I can use them practically perfect... The rules are more of a small support for me rather than something to hold up the language completely...

I have the same problems. xD Sometimes I can only think of the Japanese word. But no one understands me that way. XD

Vineda, I wish we had the same habits. :( We only talk Japanese in the class.
I wish we had a Japanese speaking cafe or something.

That would be awesome!
But I know what you mean.
Our newer classes don't have that habit as well, but the year I started in was a very small group and two of us had already learned Japanese so...
We kind of got used to talking Japanese wherever we went.
I learned the habit to the year below me (that I'm now a part of as I had too many general course failures) because I missed it too much. Now we still talk Japanese all the time.
You can do that as well with your friends... It makes for great practice!


Wow Spanish! I can't do that language... I tried but gave up nearly instantly...
