i actually read a lot of korean and chinese series as well. xD i think more of those now than japanese ones. xD;;

I've read a lot of the Japanese and Korean random ones that people recommend to me, but usually the Chinese ones I can't get into -but I suspect that's because of the translation quality.

If I'm using a machine-translation for all of them, who knows what would happen....

most of the korean ones i read are isekai ones. although theres like one or two which are in murim. which is like.....the chinese version of a cultivation/martial arts world.

a good chinese one that i like: Cheating Men Must Die. its realllyyyyyyyyy good, and translated by ShadowMadness. its about a woman with a system who goes to various mini worlds and punishes the scum men/women in each world.

The revenge trope is so common, it's funny.
I see it a lot but I've never really gotten into it.

I want an atonement and redemption arc instead; it makes me uncomfortable to watch former victims descend to the level of their erstwhile tormenters and enact vengeance.

I feel like it means that Evil wins.

Someone does evil -> victim takes revenge

Means, to my mind, that:

Someone does evil -> victim is infected by it and becomes evil too, and uses "justification" of revenge to blind themselves to it.
Conclusion: evil has won. It has successfully propagated itself and spread.

The story arcs I like are:

Someone does evil -> victim grows from the experience, and converts the someone so that they now do good in the world instead of evil.
Conclusion: good has triumphed. It has successfully overcome evil and spread.

i'm PRETTY sure that's the way they're called in each language but i could be wrong. 8U that's how i remember them anyway.

well the chinese series "I am the fated villian", the main character IS the BIGGEST baddie of them. XD he's practically the final boss for all those fated/chosen ones, the ones who are considered like the titular protagonist/male leads/female leads. i think its interesting to read a series from the villiain's point of view.
