Hm.
For all the talk of donuts and donut holes what I really want right now, indulgence-wise, is stickybuns. With lots and lots of pecans on top, and extra cinnamon.

Are those cinnamon rolls but just sticky? Or is there another difference?

That reminds me that a cinnabon store opened recently near me and that I haven't gone yet.

A Short Tutorial on the Differences Between Sticky Buns and Cinnamon Rolls:

1) Toppings/optional extras:
Sticky buns always have nuts (usually pecans). Cinnamon rolls might or might not have nuts (any variety).
Sticky buns never have raisins. Cinnamon rolls might or might not have raisins.

2) When you go to bake them:
For cinnamon rolls you just butter/flour your pan -or use baking parchment- and bake your rolls, and then glaze afterwards with a cream cheese frosting.
Contrasted with: for sticky buns, you make a caramel sauce, pour it into your baking pan, sprinkle with more nuts, THEN put the rolls into your pan and bake them, and then afterwards you flip them over so the sticky glaze and nut topping is actually on the top.


The differences are subtle, I grant you. But I don't want raisins and I definitely want nuts. I suppose I could just make no-raisins-yes-nuts cinnamon rolls and use a caramel glaze intsead of cream cheese frosting on top. That'd do it too.

Well, bother, looks like I need to make a store run and pick up some pecans and do some baking.

Wait, now I'm shocked, you can put raisins in cinnamon buns? It doesn't sound like it works very well together.

Because I don't want cinnamon rolls, I want sticky buns.
And a feature of sticky buns is nuts.
In my case, pecans!

I don't think I would want nuts or raisins but I suppose I wouldn't mind trying a sticky bun. Who is putting raisins in cinnamon rolls though?!

Well, not me. But I have seen it.
The nice thing about baking yourself is that the result is always perfectly catered to your own personal taste. So, for me.... No raisins, yes nuts, yes extra cinnamon and a hint of cardamom and cloves, half the sugar...
I am going to have to do some extra exercises....
