My grandmother has a very bad mean streak and I think she was just in a foul mood. I wasn't in control of the situation. All I saw was the army base. And we drove on the autoban - ha.

Um, server crashes happens on most sites, even when there a precautions taken to prevent them. You could prepare for everything possible, and still not be prepared for what happens. Not only that but there are hackers and stuff that will also cause server crashes just because they find it funny. You cannot prevent everything from happening no matter how hard you try. :/ At least Tristan did what he could for those that suffered from it, and even helped to make it easier for everyone if something like that were to occur again by creating a MagiStream hosted list that will show a user their current creature count with everything on it. Its not like Tristan purposely let those crashes happen, he had the best parts and everything he could get for them, so its not something he had 100% control over.
Besides, I talk to some of the mods and artists a lot in the one community thread, and they are really nice people. They are not rude or ban people for no reason like I've seen/heard some mods/admins do. Not only that but Tristan has been working on making the site better, just like Firn and starkad have been doing. Except he's doing it for the most part all on his own. Not only that but he was also running the site while he was still in high school! I don't know anyone who would be able to do that, and be successful at it. I went through just about all those crashes and such too, and have lost creatures, but Tristan doesn't go "Well, I'm sorry but I can't help" but instead does something to help. He even held special auctions it get pets no one had anymore when the site was threatened to be shut down because it didn't have enough money to make it through the tax period. But thanks to him doing that, and giving those willing to spend the money for pets that you can no longer get on the site, the site is still up and running. New features have been implemented and awesomely fun events were held. (such as the snowball fight, and yes, you got to throw snowballs at Tristan which latter turned into a pet!)
Its because of all this that I would pay money out to the site, at least its a site that does its best and is as nice as possible to its members. So what if the site crashes? You can always get the pets back by putting in a form or PM Tristan about what went missing, its not really that big of a deal. The only problem would be whether a person is too lazy to put the list together or gets mad because a computer did what any other computer does, eventual have some kind of problem. Humans are not perfect so why should we think that anything we make is perfect? I don't understand the logic behind that, and it is not logical to think in that manner either because you'll just become an ungrateful shred for thinking that way since you'll never be happy about anything. And you can't say that there hasn't been problems with this sit when there have been some, such as when the site went down for a few days because the payment for the host got in late. And the only reason why there haven't been any other issues that I know of with this site is because 1. I haven't been a member long enough and 2. starkad probably has more experience with programing than Tristan does because he's much older than him and has had the chance to get the experience.
And no, this did not mean to become a rant, but other points made in the defense of a site going down for a very short period of time or having a mere crash. If everything had been wiped on the site, including my account information, then I would have quit the site. Other than that I logically see no reason to quit playing it.

Yeah, my uncle drove pretty fast.
Sorry, went to make myself some lunch. And with that i'll pop off for today. Alan is waiting on me to do some things around the house.
Take care, Merry! Nice chatting with you :]
Um, ML - i'm STILL missing over 75% of what I had collected - and donated money for on that site. Thank you for your rant but in my experience - the site and especially Tristan, who would sent me a nasty pm stating that he would NOT refund my money for his lack of aptitude - suck.
I had thousands of pets, are you seriously saying it was my problem and I needed to remember what pets, how many, what sexes - and then inform him? No, he should have had backup - pretty simple.

@Merry
No, that wasn't meant for you.
Um...I stated that it was not meant to be a rant, that was actually my logical reasoning behind still playing the site.
And as I mentioned before, if Tristan didn't do the auction thing he wouldn't have been able to keep the site running. He's basically in the same condition as this site is where they probably wouldn't be able to refund you the money because they are barely keeping the site running as is. This is a fact, you can check in Firn's old hangout thread where she has been putting meters about how well the site has been doing donations wise to keep the site running and for whatever might be needed for the site in the future in case something happens to their computer(s). And also, you actually had to fill out the form to get the creatures back, he had specifically stated when that server crash had happened not to PM what went missing, but to instead put in the form since he had to replace brand new equipment with new equipment once again. In the mean time the mods and admins where also doing their best to restore those pets, as did Tristan once he was able to get everything fixed. The PMs all wouldn't be able to get to him anyways because the inbox can only hold up to 50 messages, so messages were bound to get lost, hence the form.
So, its not that Tristan wouldn't send you the money because he didn't want to, but because he couldn't. Just like most likely Firn would not be able to refund people their money because it has already gone to keeping the site running. Most sites run almost 100% off of the money made on the site, and when that is not enough they get ads to help pay for it.
And once again, this is not meant as a rant, but as my logical reasoning.

Actually, I think the most complicated thing is my train of thought.
I have to admit that it is kind of....bumpy, but once the logic is shorted out it does make sense.
Or at least that's what my professor says about my proofs, and helps me to reorganize my thoughts so that others can understand.
