Eeveelution's in japanese typically aren't that much different then their English counterparts, that's the only reason I've been memorizing those, I don't watch the anime in japanese myself, i just look on serebii a lot and sometimes try to memorize the names from there.

Yeah it is, and Eevee's is Eievui in japanese.
Espeon=Eifie
Umbreon=Blacky(not a joke it actually is XD)
Flareon = Booster
Vaporeon=Showers
Jolteon=Thunders
Leafeon=Leafia
Glaceon=Glacia
Honestly forgot that the original 3 evolutions were rather interesting XD. Still have yet to figure out why they call Flareon Booster in Japanese (I got the names off Serebii, and that's how they have them listed)

Whoops, sorry, I wasn't thinking :D I play in german, so I mostly know the german names, but I really should have thought a moment and written the english one ;)
I'm slowly learning the english ones as well, since I play pokemon go in english (I'd rather not, but I've set my phone language to english and I don't know if there's any way to change the language for the game independent of that).

I don't play pokemon go myself, but from what i've seen of screenshots of the screen, it doesn't appear that the game has an option to do that, but I could ask a friend of mine if there is a possiblity of that.
No worries though, feel free to use the german names anytime, i actually like seeing the other name versions of the varying pokemon, especially since i have german heritage.

Yeah that's them, I just double checked on serebii XD. Suicune, Raikou and Entei they didn't even attempt to rename, those are their names in every very of the games.

LOOL I guess the English translators were like "oh those names are unique enough, let's just keep them because we're too lazy to change them and we're already running out of ideas!"
I actually liked some of the Japanese names more than the English counterparts. I still remember the xy starters as Fokko, Keromatsu and Harimaron. And then it's like Gekkogashira and Gekkouga. I find the Japanese love to use onomatopoeia/sound effects with their Pokemon names and I think it sounds more fitting.
For example, gekko and kero are both Japanese sound effects for frogs. And the name Pikachu is a cross between pika meaning sparkling/shining and chu which is a Japanese sound effect for kissing. In other words, whenever Keromatsu/Gekkogashira/Gekkouga "speak" in Japanese, they literally are making frog sounds. And Pikachu is just all "sparkly sparkly shiny kissuuu" whenever it speaks in ANY language! XD

Wow, that's really interesting and cool! I didn't know about that :)
