I'm really glad that on my phone I found a keyboard that allows you to have multiple languages activated at the same time. I'd go nuts without it.

Is there a language you would like to be able to speak in particular?

How many do you speak?

I'd love to learn Japanese and Spanish. Spanish would be practical and Japanese would be really cool. lol.

I also want to learn American Sign Language and Japanese Sign Language.

Mostly just german (which is my mother tongue) and english. I did also learn french in school, but I'm not very good at speaking it (at least not anymore, I'm so out of practice) - I can still understand quite a bit of french though. I also understand some italian, partly because it's related to french and partly because of listening to operas while reading the translations in the booklet.
But that's really rough, I was able to get the broad topic of what some of my former roommates where talking about in italian, but nothing more detailed.

I'd like to be able to speak spanish as well, that'd be nice. I wish I had picked spanish instead of latin as my third foreign language in school, maybe I would have been able to stand that for longer (I dropped latin again after half a year, because it was in a terrible timeslot in the afternoon without a proper lunchbreak and that would give me migraines twice a week. Not fun.).

I imagine japanese would be quite difficult to learn, but I bet it is fascinating! Same goes for sign languages.

Japanese is a neverending story. You'll never quite grasp it completely, since even the Japanese themselves don't :mccute:
It's fun to learn though, very fascinating indeed, and it gives a hell of a good feeling when you finally manage a conversation!

I have such a horrible memory. It's a huge stressor for me. I really just need to buckle down and study. I feel trying one language at a time would be good.

I know a tiny bit of a bunch of languages. lol. I had Spanish and German in high school so I know bits and pieces. And I was also into opera so I know a tiny bit of Latin and Italian. I actually used to sing it. Italian is soooo hard to pronounce.

English is my native language. But I live in the south soooo most people suck at the language. I have a hard time communicating with people at times because their vocabulary is so bad. I've actually had people yell at me for using 'big words'. I wasn't intentionally using big words. Oh well. People are silly.

Yeah, I have a huge fascination with Japanese culture and language. It's all so fascinating to me. I don't know why.
I have a Japanese textbook. Genki 1. I need to just go through it and see what I can learn. Maybe after a bit I can try for talking to actual people. lol.

Italian? Hard to pronounce? Don't make me laugh XD Italian's so easy. Try Hindi, Suahili, Chinese, Arabic, that's hard to pronounce (Hindi the least, I should know, I studied it, but the palatal sounds... wrrr).
And Japanese is super duper easy once you learn all the syllabic scripts and a few kanji signs. I mean the grammar and pronunciation. But I guess it's easier for me, my native language has all the sounds from the Japanese language :qt:
If you have bad memory, try little bits of the new language every day and repeating a lot. Flashcards may be helpful too. I really don't know, I never had much trouble with remembering things. It's funny I forget other things tho :qhehe:

Speaking of languages, does anyone speak Hindi? I'm forgetting it, and I really don't want to, but I don't have any access to learning materials and such. :qoops:

I have a friend on here from India, but I don't know if she speaks Hindi.

You could make a hangout for it or something?

I have a hard time pronouncing Italian. lol.

Apparently you have a talent for languages.

I'm thinking about that hangout for a few years now, but I guess I'm too shy and uncertain XD
I may be talented, or maybe it's because my native language really is flexible with sounds, so we're able to pronounce almost all European languages. Also, I tried learning Italian once, I didn't really study because I wasn't into that language, but still I had bits of lessons in my head XD Now I can only say Mi chiamo Memoriam, io sono Polacca. And that's it XD But I only had few lessons, so I guess I'm justified :qt: I used to learn German in middle school (3 years) and Russian in highschool (4 years). I don't understand a thing in those languages, I can say few minor words and sentences. Then studied Hindi for three years and Japanese 1 year, then about 2 or 3 years break, then another 3 years. And now I can't speak anything XD So yeah, I don't really think I'm that talented in laguages.
I'm still trying to learn Swedish... I'm failing... Help me... :qcry:

So many languages! lol. Sounds very indecisive, sounds like me.

Oh, I'm almost positive that there are at least a few people on here who speak Swedish.

Yeah, I know how it sounds, lol :qlol: The story is this: English is the obligatory language in schools in my country, like everywhere nowadays, I believe. Then in Middleschool they force you to choose an additional obligatory language. I chose German, because my sister fell in love with it. I hated it XD But somehow never regreted not going for French either... Then In Hishschool the additional obligatory language was Russian... And we all hated it and boyckoted the teachers and lessons and, well, we just butted heads with the language and its teachers ^^ (I say we, as in my both whole classes, two classes, I failed one year, yeah... :qoops: ). Actually the same basically went for German. Well, I'm Polish. Germany and Russia + Poland + history... not a great combination XD
Anyways, I was super duper interested in Japanese (anime, manga, older sister, so on), so I wanted to study it. I failed with my points, so I fell down to the indology, studies about India, hence Hindi. And my bf studied Swedish for a year (until they told him he failed one tiny thing and he didn't know it would disqualify him and they didn't let him correct that mark so yay :qstr: ) and I began liking it, so now I'm trying to learn it with him...

I'm pretty sure we have users form all the corners of Earth in here, so maybe if I surf through some hangouts and make a few new ones, then maybe, just maybe... QuQ *getting her hopes up*

Edit: And now I work for a Greek company. So I tried Greek. But I'm just not really into it ;/
