Oh trust me... people will hate on ANYTHING.
Saw it with fanfiction, see it all the time on amazon reviews on light novels.
People get triggered by anything.. o3o

I suppose you could just use pseudonyms all over the place and never ever look at reviews or comments....
but I wouldn't want to manage all that mess either.
Theoretically that's what an agent and publishing house is for, but lately I've only ever heard horror stories about trying to find those, so...

I guess someone could make a fair bit of money offering the service of taking people's works, doing a quick format change to make them suitable for e-publishing, and passing on a percentage of the profit to the author along with a suitably curated selection of reviews, so they only ever saw the encouraging parts.

But that would be so mentally exhausting.

Just make sure you appoint a literary/creative works executor in your will -that way someone can edit and publish stuff for you, and you won't care at all about any blowback from it, because you won't be there to be bothered!
Speaking of which.
I should check, I have a cousin who'd appointed me (instead of her husband) but since then her circumstances have changed a lot (thank goodness; he was a real bubble of swamp gas), and I should see if she's remembered to officially swap me out for her current partner or not. I can always hand it over to him, of course, but it's easier if she does it up properly from the beginning. (This one's a much better one. I'm hoping she keeps him).

I don't know, sometimes a book gets bad reviews. But I would not say that's "hate".
I've written bad reviews for bad books more than once, but I've always been polite about it.

For me hate is something like "oh, the writer is a loser, just quit writing!" or something like that.
And personally have never seen such a review...
