Remember, if anyone tries to pull the "blood is thicker than water" half quote, remind them of the full quote: the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb

The half quote is, obviously, "love your family even if they're shitheels"
The full one is more "you can choose your friends, not your family. Family sucks? Ditch 'em"

Huh. I've never heard that before oO

I consider myself a forgiving person. But sometimes it takes a long time.

There's a fair few quotes out there that are only half the entire quote
And the way they're chopped entirely flips the meaning

Birds of a feather flock together until the cat comes
The half quote is all about friendship and tight ones. Add the missing bit, and it's a warning about fairweather friends
Great minds think alike but fools rarely differ
Just because two or more people have an idea doesn't mean it's good
Somewhere I have a list of several that got chopped

People do that with bible verses xD

>XD
Those do flip the meaning entirely.
I wonder why people do that.
To fit what they think and believer, I guess xD

Or ignore context
Like the whole man lies with woman thing, women were considered property, not people, when it was written. Perfectly fine to be gay so long you aren't dehumanizing the other dude
But I think that's too much brain juice for those who use that line

People don't care about context anymore xD

I see people getting offended over stuff that was never offensive.
Or like with jokes or just mimicking someone to make fun of them - doesn't matter. You say something, even if people don't know why - you're a bad person.

And yet context is the most important part
Their loss

Right, right.

I've seen people take quotes from people, but cut some of it out so the person looked like a piece of garbage xD
Then people are like "Wow! What a piece of garbage! F**k them!"

I've seen people quote someone who said something shitty, but people don't acknowledge they're quoting someone and just call them garbage xD

I'm a sensitive person, so I get upset and angry easily, but people nowadays are weenies ._.

Well in this case it is easy to explain why people get upset or feel hurt. You might say one thing, but the person might understand it differently, so your statement has a different effect than intended. That's a common linguistic phenomenon.

Oh, I'm fully aware of that. I've pissed people off a lot without meaning to xD;

One thing that people don't understand is when I laugh at things.
My way of dealing with things is to joke and laugh - no matter what happens.
People think I just don't care or don't understand seriousness.

Like if I were to get my middle finger cut off - I'd say "Well, guess I can't flip people off anymore xD"
I would be really sad because I lost a finger, but my reaction is to joke and laugh so it's not as horrible.
