Speaking of hangouts, I have one that hasn't been posted in since April '20

Wow, that's a long time! I know there's a role-playing thread I had created some many years back with a single other person and haven't posted in just as many years, lmao.

At least KofK doesn't catch you in the catch-22 of "no necro'ing old threads" with a combo of "don't create new threads when there's already one there to post in"
which always makes me wonder where exactly the cut-off is supposed to be....
you post in an old thread because you have a similar question, and get told off for necro'ing. You create a new thread and get told off because there's already a thread like that. Um? Make up your minds?

Here, though -if you wanted to post in that old hangout thread, you totally could.

I'm guilty of posting in old threads since I would be lurking, forget i'm lurking once I got to the end, and reply to whatever the last topic was. Or my email forgot that notifications were suppose to come to my inbox and not my spam, so by time I finally circle back wondering what happened, 'bout a year or so had past. That was a fun experience, especially when I realized important messages or job replies were getting lost in there...

I have found myself wearing vintage dresses between the 1920's and 40's as I find them flattering despite my size, even the really form fitting ones. Though I need to stick to thicker heels as I don't walk straight even wearing sneakers, so walking in basically stilettos has been a leaning experience.

I think it would be fine if I posted in an old thread and it rekindled the conversation but it feels like I did necro just for the fp if the thread stays dead. It's really hard to tell how it will go before posting, though!

Wouldn't it also depend on the kind of forum and on whether or not the owner of that thread is still around?
Like, posting in a charity where the owner hasn't logged in forever would definitely be necroing but it wouldn't necessarily be in a chat thread about a certain topic?

It's usually topic based chat threads that I feel the need to necro in and sometimes it works out but sometimes it stays dead so I get it. People are used to it being a dead topic and don't pay attention to it. I get no necro rules but as sites have gotten slower, the idea has become obsolete.

It's so dependent on if other people are online at the same time or not!
Well, even if there are no people online, if I really feel the urge to post I'll head to the avatar games.
If not, I'll leave them alone.

If I have any kind of objective I consistently try to reach it.
If I don't, I simply let things happens and then the average varies much more of course.

I agree necroing is kinda hard to notice.
Sometimes the chat thread is just dead. Of a "natural" death. And there is nothing you can post to revive it.
Sometimes you post and it gets back to activity.

I don't know, if it's something that grabs you interest I suppose you could post anywhere. But usually you don't go searching for old threads in topics of your interest - you just create a new one.

I know some have a point where a thread can be revived without being a necro
Flight Rising used to have a three month limit. Which doesn't help the fact that the search function defaults to most relevant instead of most recent, so a few years back they changed it to "so long it's relevant it won't be locked"

I don't which level of activity has FR.
I think what you consider "necroing" depends a lot on how active the forum itself is.
