I hate it when people do something "nice" for you only to use it for guilt-tripping you whenever they can. Then it's just manipulative and not nice at all.

Everyone around me knows I love advent and advent calendars. So I was really disappointed last year when I didn't get one from my boyfriend in our second year of the relationship. I know I reasonably had no right to be disappointed so we talked about it and worked it out. It was totally fine in the end and we came to better understanding of each other. But he promised me nonetheless to get me one this year xD
And of course he'll get one as well again!

My brother in law is that person... I despise that trait. It's just insincere and hurtful, there's no real trust built between the two people. Instead it's just "you owe me this"...

For me it are my brother and sister. Luckily my mother has seen through them so I have not seen my brother since late '19 and my sister only if she comes to pick up mom to allow her to spend some time (and money) with her grandson. :}

Well in traditional Asian families, it’s practically expected to bring something (fruit or whatever) whenever you visit as a courtesy. And usually, when you leave, the other party will give something back. Lol

I'm not Asian but I still feel the need to bring something when I visit. I was brought up that doing so is good manner. :}
