It's a cross between a simple bucket list and like a diary I suppose. Each page has a title space for the name of the item, a space where you can plan how you might achieve it, and then on the second half of the page there is room to fill in a section after you have done it. You can record the date, where you did it, who you were with, and also some thoughts about what it was like to experience or achieve it. It's quite fun to fill in. I've achieved some things since getting it, although not a high percentage of the whole list. And there's room for probably 300 or something items, where I didn't even come up with 100 yet XD

Haha, that could be a good hint. I didn't think it would be my kind of thing to be honest, I heard a lot about it and I thought it was just one more thing for me to get OCD about (I often obsess over lists and things like that, especially numbering things, and sometimes my daily routine can get a bit extreme if I don't have things in check). Then I just tried it on a whim, I don't even really know why. But in fact it ended up replacing a few other habits I had, so it's simplified my day rather than adding to it, and it's a nice way to reflect on what has happened and also to track things you need to track (for me, I can keep a record of my symptoms for example, so I can go back to the doctor and say SEEEEEE haha XD)

I'd never heard of bullet journals until you two started talking about it, but I did a quick search on them and I really love the concept!

I might have to start one :qh:
(Although I'll undoubtedly lose it, too.)

Maybe I should use the bullet journal to intersperce simple fun things -like treating myself to pulling out a favourite jigsaw puzzle- and to-do list things -like finally redoing the low terracing in the blueberry patch.
If I make each item small enough that I can do it in an afternoon or a weekend at most, I bet it would be more useful.
Hmmm

There are so many possibilities!

Have tried the bullet journal several times only to have it fail after a few weeks/months.
I did start a diary when I first came to Japan, gave up after three months.

I barely have a planner and it's only because it's been gifted to me by husband who got it from work because they themselves got it gifted by a rival (?!) company and thus can't possibly use it. (Also got nice pens that way ^^)

I might really use it this year because I finally have a job interview on Friday and if I do get the job I will need it.

I think it's a great concept, because you can actually do what you want/need with it.
But I already use other tools for certain stuff (work agenda, family command center) which I'm not interested in changing.

And I'm not sure I would be able to keep up with a bullet journal just for personal/self-care...

Now that I think of it, my recipes notebook is kinda bujo-ish...

I don't mind doubling up on important concepts.

Plus I have no idea how well it will work for me, I just want to try it and see.
that might sound wasteful, but if the experience is enjoyable then even if the original goal isn't met, it won't be a total loss of time.

I am a bit of a stationery nerd and together with being OCD, it kinda gets a bit... :mcheh:
Right now even though I'm on maternity leave, I'm maintaining: a bullet journal, a gratitude journal, a weekly planner, a calendar (as in paper and pen calendar) and several notebooks for ideas and notetaking. And I've taken up transcribing all of my weekly tasks and daily ones into my phone so I can still go through it and check things off when one hand is full of baby.
When I'm working I also add at least one daily planner broken down hourly as well as a notebook just for work notes, or two. And of course there's the less-than-daily things like the bucket list journal, too.
This is what I was saying about my daily routine getting out of control - there have been times when it felt like after did all my daily habits, I had no time left to do anything but eat and sleep :mcheh:

I've kept up my bullet journal for two years and five months straight now. At first it was a little difficult to keep up but since then the habit became easier. I even kept it up in the hospital - I brought a small pocket notebook and made headers on each page for all the stuff I would normally put in my bullet & gratitude journals, made short quick notes, and then I just copied it out longhand and nice when I got back.

That's kinda overwhelming, jacob. Wow.

I have my system to organize work and family appointments, and I would not mind adding something for self-care... but I think it would eat up the little leisure time I have :|

Jacobgrey, you became a mom while I was off on hiatus! Belated felicitations!

Also, wow, you have it together -that is FAR more organized than I have ever managed to be in my entire life.
It sounds amazing :qh:

I am with you on the enjoying stationery but I don't know enough about it to actually qualify as a stationery nerd -more that I just like it and have trouble not picking up more whenever I'm at a sale event, and some of my friends are well used to getting cards and letters in the mail that start out,
"I don't really have anything to say right now but isn't this cool paper?!"

Just back to topic for a sec.
Last caravan arrived on Jan 26th.
So maybe it won't be long before it's back again?

Maybe, Grog can be very whimsical in his timing.

Kuuki how did your interview go? Was it scary? Did it turn into one of the horror stories or did you survive it without too much trouble?
