I'm not entirely sure how the prison system works here. I think I put it in the too complicated basket.



Although that said my dad's side of the family has two family members in prison.. very bad two people.

Oh gosh, are they there for long?

My dad was in jail once... I think for a year or something like that. Drugs ;/ I recently heard a story that they were growing weed with some older guy and someone ratted them out, so the older guy said "I'll go do the time, I've been in jail, I'm old, what can they do to me? You guys stay free" and I'm like jeezus krist, wut R U tellin' meh tis so sad x.x
the medical weed was recently legalized by our government and my dad's like "growing medical weed, that's the perfect job for me! Why do they want to take it from some other countries while we can grow it here?! " *pats dad*

Sentenced to seven consecutive life sentences plus 18 years on July 27, 1996. for one.

Sentenced to 43 years in prison with a 30-year non-parole period on June 7, 2012. for the other.

So glad my last name is different.

My dad was in jail once also but it was a false accusation. But it was still hard on him and mum and my siblings.

Oh gosh, one part of me wants to ask what they did, the other part of me tells me we don't want to know, lol XD

Aw man, false accusations are the worst :( was it for long? Or did they dismiss him after discovering the truth?

Heard of backpacker murderer? =/ that's the first one. 2nd one is his great nephew.

I'm ashamed to be related, though I'm intrigued by family history. Alas it's not a distant relation either, well not huge distant.


Umm I don't know I wasn't born at the time. I just know it took a while and my parents were pretty sure they got followed for a bit after he was let out. It was though someone else, I think they framed him... or tried to.

My suspicion is maybe someone found out about his relation to the above uh jailed people and had a grudge? (said great nephew wasn't born yet either).

That must've been hard on your parents. Media are annoying and really don't know how to give families space.

My father was jailed too but that was in Vietnam back in late 1970s when he was trying to escape communism and the northerners caught him and the crew that were about to sail off.

Most do as soon as I mention backpacker murderer. He's my 2nd cousin through my dad. So dad's mum's sister and husband (so great aunt and uncle I think)'s parents of said person.

Yeah I know, and having a completely different last name helps XD I only tell those I trust. I find the story rather eh. Like it's horrible really. Just the whole hype about it is the eh bit.

Well I don't think my parents were hounded but I suspect someone in the police force knew..?

As far as I know the media doesn't know about the relation to Milat, or well they haven't dug enough.

As Poshi said, being related to them doesn't make you a bad person. As the old saying says (lolol in Polish we call that a buttery butter XD) "You do not choose your family", so
