I didn't notice the dates either. I just knew that the hair was the next to go. ^^;

And though I don't really like a lot of the colors, I'm still planning on getting all the hairs if I can manage it. And it looks like I might be able to???

And I miss traveling so much. I've already had to cancel two trips that were planned long before the pandemic, and I miss it. :(

I really do want to travel somewhere farther. I like travel but I do hate the stress involved with planning and actually getting around. If I could transporter beam straight to another country, I would do it in a heartbeat!

Oh yeah, if we could just cut out all the stress of making it to the destination, everything would be so much better. Like, I love exploring new places, trying new foods, etc., but flying?? Packing your bags and wondering if you forgot anything??? No thanks!

And don't forget the finding and booking of hotels and local transportation! I almost think it would be easier and less stressful to backpack but I'm not well suited for that style either. I just like the freeing idea of it.

Trust me, not knowing where you're gonna sleep at night and/or when and how you're going to get to your destination is at least as stressful as booking everything beforehand.

I don't know, what I find the most stressful about travel is the local transportation. You might research beforehand but some things don't go as planned, especially when it's remote and especially when you don't speak the language.

And I don't like having to go through so many mode of transportations just to go back to my family. It's a hassle. Might be part of why I don't like going back.

When I was a kid, people usally did not book hotels. They just reached destination and then chose one.
That would drive me nuts. I need to have everything ready beforehand.
I mean, we are going only for two nights to a city we know well, we have friends there and also family only 20 minutes away. And still we booked weeks in advance!
I just can't travel without a plan.

I don't like arranging a plan for visiting stuff though, cause you never know how long you'll want to stay in a museum or how much you'll like that part of the city.
But for means of transportation and the place to stay must be all in order before I even consider leaving my house.

I travelled that way a few times -just showing up and then trying to find someplace to stay.

It... mostly?... worked out...

But last few times I travelled, I booked ahead.

Much more relaxing.

(Also, weirdly, more expensive -you'd think doing it ahead of time would net you better rates, but no. Apparently not.)

I miss travelling, too. I haven't been anywhere (for fun. I'm not counting travelling for funerals because that doesn't count in so many ways) since 2017.

Wait, no. I forgot. Since 2019, which isn't so bad after all I guess.

But still.

I miss travelling.

My mom did that for a family trip with just us kids in 2004? She only booked the first hotel because someone told her she should because of the first place we went, and then we just travelled and enjoyed the sights.

Sometimes you get better rates if you call the hotel directly than booking it online. It's weird. My sister is good at booking hotels for a decent rate.

I'm ready to travel to another country, but I'm still waiting on that until next year, I hope. Seeing as the place I want to visit is Japan...and their whole border situation.
One thing I'm worried about is that I'm probably going to be going by myself, and Tokyo, I'm fine with Tokyo and their transportation, but getting to another city because I want to explore other places too that I barely explored the previous times I was there. (Last time I was on a group tour, but they didn't leave enough free time at the end of the day to explore because most places were closed by then)

I've generally found that booking in advance is cheaper but also because you get to spend the time picking from all the choices and you have more say in the type of room you get. As I kid...did my parents not book the hotels? It's hard to say since I paid no attention to such things on road trips but that might have been so.

I think for a lot of excursions you do have to plan though. There are a lot of things that need time slots or tickets or have week-long wait times so if you want to do something, it's important to research ahead. If my family only planned destinations after we got to a place....we probably wouldn't go anywhere since half the day would be wasted just making decisions....

I've done the thing before where I go to a central bus area and say, "I have XX amount of money; how far can I go for that?" and then see where I end up.

Then I have to get back somehow.

That can be fun and terrifying both...

But I found someone eventually who agreed to sell me a bicycle, and then I found someone else who agreed to pay me the price of the bicycle if I took the long route back and went with him getting his goats to the butcher's (the person who had the truck he normally borrowed was somehow or other unavailable. My nuwari was pretty bad and so was his, so I am not 100% sure I got what he was saying about it)... and also agreed to drop the bicycle off at his cousin's place in the capital when I reached there.
So really it was more that he bought the bicycle through me indirectly, and I rented it from him in exchange for doing far more work than I thought it would be to move a bunch of ornery, mule-minded, wayward little sh*ts a mere thirty kilometres.

But it was a good trip anyhow.

Even if I did smell like goats for the next two days.

And my grasp of the language improved a LOT.
