I want to know why do people go coocoo over animal crossing. I don't know much about the game.

It's my first one so I can't really explain it that well

but the nintendo direct was what made me want it.

But so far I've been enjoying it though that said to me, stardew is better.

Animal Crossing is slice of life way high on the fluff scale
I joined in New Leaf, but from what I understand, that one is similar to older games. Have a home, expand home, get tools, enjoy the town, decorate the town, rage when some fuckface plops their home on top of your carefully manicured space, pay off your lean that has no interest ever and you can pay off whenever, use three bugs and an apple to pay it off, etc. In New Leaf specifically, you're the mayor. On accident
Happy Home Designer is more focused on designing homes for the various characters. You also get to renovate a town
Pocket Camp, which is an app, is more like the actual games. You have a campsite, a cabin, and your RV to design. You get more control over who is in cabin and camp, and they don't plop houses down or anything. Lots of loading screens because lots of different spots to go to
New Horizons is on an island, takes many gripes of ACNL and fixes them, while adding cool stuff from HHD
