@Moon Star: Yeah, kinda what I was feeling. But they were adorable. I've already been in places where they were both scared of people and pretty close to dangerous so at least I was surprised in a good way? I don't know, people feed them and maybe they're not strays? Even horses looked like strays in that island anyway.

And congrats for the posts!
I think I'm at 200 or something this caravan, I can't believe I have written so much.

Unless they were of the fluffy kind I've just discovered exisits. Too cute to be annoyed with them.
They were not the fluffy kind. But they were just content eating the crumbs that were falling on the floor. The hotel staff wasn't happy at all though.

The only 'wildlife' I ever saw at an airport was once when I was a kid and I was waiting with all the bags but one, while my parents waited to get the last one off the carousel. A giant spider ran over to me and hid under the bags. I was so scared I just froze and watched it XD
Another time we'd just landed back in the UK, looked at one of our bags, and there was a cockroach running around all over it. Needless to say he didn't get to leave the airport XD

I've found a lot of increased security across everywhere I've been since 9/11, not just the US. the UK got kind of ridiculous with the checks as well, and definitely a lot of places in Europe.

Cruises have airport level security too
So if you came by plane ya gotta go through it all twice

Cruises, too?
That's sad...

I've never been on a cruise. Someday!

I know nothing about cruises, but they don't appeal to me.
*shrugs*
I'm the kind of tourist who likes to walk the streets and stop to drink a cup of tea here and there. I need days in each location.

I have no idea if I'm the sort to like cruises or not... haven't been on one yet, and the only things I know about them are from books, which doesn't seem like the most reliable guide in this case.

I've got family who have been on lots and lots and lots because of work, but that doesn't really help because the stories they tell are about things like, "our equipment suddenly stopped working and we'd only gathered a third of the data we needed and the ship had only just crossed the arctic circle so there we were trying to fix it and then the welder stopped working!" and other such completely non-cruise-related incidents.

Plus I just have the sneaking suspicion that going on a scientific cruise for work is probably a very different experience from going on a vacation cruise...

I suppose they have nothing to do indeed.

My understanding of vacation cruises is that your stay on the cruise is supposed to be fun - there is swimming pool, music, all kind of activities.
But I usually don't look forward crowded places and group activities so no my thing.

And then the cruise stops in this and that town or city, which you can visit at your leisure for a few hours...
But a few hours is not enough for me as a tourist, I need days in every place I visit.

So I don't think I'll ever spend my money in a cruise.
They offer a type of vacation that does not match my lifestyle.

I love cruises! Think of them more like a chance to visit multiple destinations that, alone, you might not plan to see otherwise. Which technically cuts costs for places you wouldn't plan a long trip for, but for which a few hours is more than enough!

But I love actual proper traveling as well, where you stay in the same place for 1-2 weeks.

They both have their appeal, depending on the destinations. :)

And yeah, cruise security is crazy, and you have to go through it every time you board. xD

I'm a bit partial about cruises as well. I guess it would depend on the itinerary?
I know I would love to do one of those world tour one, doing a world tour by plane is fun but you end up spending a lot of time in airports.
Would love to do a Nile cruise too. And one around Polynesia.

And then there's a place I want to go to that's only accessible via ferry and the trip takes 24 hours one way so ...

That was The Intercontinental, think private bungalows over transparent water kind of luxury. Which makes the chicken even better.
The hotel didn't survive the pandemic though, which is very sad.
