How do you deal with being depressed?

Just curious. :X I've been thinking about depression a lot, and I was wondering how other people deal with being sad. And I was kinda hoping to find some new ways to deal with it myself.

Hurmmm. I used to deal with it by watching "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" to lighten my mood, but I lost my dvd's... Now I usually read a book or talk it out with a friend.

Sleeping usually helps too. :qhehe:

What about you?

I play video games, read, draw, and write songs. I used to drink when I was depressed, but I stopped because I'm depressed all most all of the time and I don't want to be drunk all the time too.

Lately I've just been playing video games. They help me forget about my own life for a while and concentrate on something else while having fun. I also feel like I've accomplished something when I beat a game, even if I haven't accomplished anything I need to, like getting a job.

Oh yeah, spending time with my pets also helps me deal with depression. If I can't be home alone with them, I take them for walks through the woods. Well I take my dog on walks, and my cat just follows. XD

I sleep and shut myself off from the world for a few weeks.
If I go out when I'm really low I get really irritable or I cry all the time,
plus when I'm really depressed I do not have energy to even get out
of bed sometimes...
I try to think of nothing, just sleep it off and do a few things around
the house till I feel my mood getting better...
Doesn't work for everyone, but when I get really really bad,
I go self harm as emotional pain is sometimes too hard to deal
with, and pysical pain takes my mind off the emotional side for a while,
and it does not hurt inside as much then...
But I do not suggest anyone else does it.
I do not mean cutting, I mean light stuff like pinching yourself
or giving your self a little slap...
sometimes I find my mood lightened when I'm active and just keep going.

I'm actually medicated. I'm at a point now, though, where I'm so stressed out about being jobless that it's not doing the job.

I sleep a lot right now. I've actually debated trying to see if I can stay in bed for a full 24+ hours except for potty breaks.

When I have enough energy to do anything about it (which I haven't the past 2 months or so), working out does help, since it burns off the hormones for that whole fight-or-flight response thing. Sunlight also does help.
