Damn Backgrounds

I have the hardest time picking a background for my avatars.
It has to match, but can't match too much or the avatar blends in, and sometimes it doesn't have to match as long as the avatar stands out.
It will take me a full hour to just pick a background.
I'm kind of satisfied with my current one, but it took a while to pick it out.
What's the hardest, most time consuming thing when you dress yours?

Dude, I thought I was the only one who had that background issue xD
But I only have one decent looking background anyway so it's a bit easier on me, seeing that I only have to choose items that will look good with said background c':
But the most tough thing that I go through when I make dream avis or craft a new outfit from my wardrobe is probably the eyes or the border >__> There aren't many eyes that I like on KofK (and the ones I do are on the expensive side and I'm slowly saving FPs for it), so I just use the ones I have. However, for many of my desired outfits, the eyes I have don't look good (and it's the only one I like out of those standard ones you get in the shops @__@). Then I spend like an hour and a half going through all the eyes on the dream avatar creator and saying they don't look right and it's a horrible mess. It's the same deal with borders too, and in the end, I just leave my eyes and border (or no border..) as is o__o
I love having a nice looking avatar though, so I suppose it's alright that I go through all of this xD

The BG are very hard to find for me too. But the worst is the border. I prefer to have a border, but it's so hard to find one which match the color scheme AND the style of the avatar...

the layering of backgrounds? I prefer my backgrounds to have some frills into it. The frame must match the inner background and other embellishments should blend with the rest of my avatar's clothes . matching colors to see if they fit together takes me into forever not to mention fairy coins. I can't afford a lot so, I can't experiment much on other combinations

I totally feel you.
Background is usually the last item I add in and it can be very confusing to find the perfect one. There's been times when just switching between background gave my avatar a whole different mood.
Other times I might start from the background, as in one I really want to use but hadn't yet got to and this seems easier to work with as I just build around it.
I find monotone backgrounds are the easiest to work it, or backgrounds that totally clash with your avatar and make it pop out but it's hard to choose one each time.

I can't seem to be able to use any background that has a pattern or picture, I can add things to the plain backgrounds though, I don't really understand why this is

i am kinda picky when it comes to backgrounds,wich is why i do not have sooo many of them ><
This is also quite troublesome,because i am limited in finding some that matches..
especially when it comes to the pattern of the background...>_<

I have exactly the same problem with backgrounds, you already described it perfectly in the first post moi. I find the moon and swiff or simple gradient ones work the most often for me, since they are not a solid block of the colour, which can avoid the blending in issues sometimes.

Backgrounds! Deffinently backgrounds.
I sometimes give up on avis all together cuz I can't find any bg to make it fit. And sometimes I do, but it's an expired item and that just makes it even more frustrating
