If I choose to read a physical book, I much prefer the hard cover edition. They are so much sturdier and don't get beat up as badly while you are reading. They also look nicer on the bookshelves.

I prefer soft cover, it feels easier to handle and not as bulky/big, and reads more easily for me :qcute:

I prefer paperback. Especially for thicker books like the Eragon and Harry Potter series. They take up less room, are lighter, and more affordable than hardback books.

I usually buy paperback because it's cheaper, mostly because I am the one paying for them. I buy hardcovers if I got the first book in the series as a hardcover. Though my collection is starting to shift more and more towards ebooks, because I can usually get them $1-5 cheaper.

I like all of the above. For buying I prefer the softcover because it's so much cheaper.

But I would never turn away a book as a gift. Except maybe Twilight. Ugh.

I've really never cared about covers.
I do like the books for reading, not for showing off, so I buy the one which suits me most.

I usually prefer softcover because they're cheaper and lighter.
Yes, they're lighter. Some of those hardcover books just add up too much aditional weight for a book to be comfortable.

It's been less than a year since I own an e-reader, and now that's an option as well.
Cheap and handy.

But sometimes I prefer more elaborated editions (with detailed maps or photos for example) which only come in hardcover. Then I choose those.
That's why I bought recipes books in hardcover mainly.
