Oh god that brings me back to when I had my mother in law staying with us for an extended period of time. She had never owned a cast iron pan before so she put mine in the dishwasher while I was at work (it was already cleaned, properly seasoned, and put away. She just thought the oily surface meant it wasn't cleaned right). Completely ruined it. My husband had to explain it to her when he got home. We bought another one and a year later she did it again during one of her visits. We gave up after that.

i've rarely used a dishwasher. we don't have one at home so we wash all dishes by hand. the only time i've seen or used a dishwasher is at an airbnb/hotel whatever or at someone's house when we're visiting. xD;;

We have one. Getting it to start is weird so I rarely get it first go

Lol is it hard to get a dishwasher to start? XD;; i’ve always thought dishwashers don’t completely wash dishes. Like you have to presoak or prewash dishes before putting them in or something. Like what’s the point of a dishwasher then? Might as well just wash by hand.

I dunno lol, as i said, i dont use dishwashers but i always hear that people had to do presoaks or whatnot before throwing it in the washer. Maybe dishwashers have improved since then. 8u

I think that is back more in the olden days. LOL I dunno. I have a newish dishwasher at my house. I usually just do a lil quick rinse if I still have chunks of food on the dishes still. Even though there's a food trap in the dishwasher that needs cleaned regularly.

Yeah if you need to prewash you need to check the dishwasher

You need to set it before you close the door but also not take too long otherwise it won't register and I basically always miss that window
It's maybe two years old? The old dishwasher was spin a dial. So much easier. Then it got old and stopped working right and flooded the kitchen so we stopped using it lol

Oh weird. Mine if I hit start is just says Cd (close door) and starts. Sometimes I accidentally don't close it all the way and I'll wonder why it is not running. Come to find out it's still say Cd cuz I didn't close it all the way lol.

Oh fun story, had to get a new garbage disposal cuz it randomly decided to leak everything out (my sink only has one drain), so when I got it replaced my step dad did it for me, apparently when he hooked up the drain hose for the dishwasher, he forgot to poke a little piece of plastic out for the water to go through, so I thought my dishwasher was broken because it was retaining water to the point it was almost spilling out.

Yeah, modern dishwashers do not need presoaking.
I actually never really got the point in those old dishwashers that needed presoaking. If I'm going thru the trouble of soaking, I might as well wash the dishes directly...
