Leanna woke up feeling the most refreshed and awake she had ever felt in her life, she was slightly disappointed by the fact that Cole wasn't with her when she opened her eyes, but she understood - this wasn't the place to be fussing over their relationship. Leanna had a job to so, she got herself dressed and out the tent in record time, a small smile permanently on her face. She was dealt the same jobs, cleaning, feeding, taking care of the animals and dragons. Mikhel seemed to be avoiding her for the most part, and every time she met eyes with Cole she smiled sweetly and blushed, turning away as to not cause suspicion.
The dragons were both very anxious today, more so that Leanna had ever seen them. It worried her but her thoughts were caught short when Mikhel approached her, "H-Hey... Can I have a word?" he asked, motioning for them to move to a more private area, not out of the camp, but just out of earshot. "Look, Syd, I'm your friend, and as such I feel like I should warn you about that guy Cole." Leanna hesitated, paling slightly, "O-oh? What about him?" she asked, feigning ignorance. "I see the way you look at him, with big eyes and smiling - I get it, you like him" Mikhel practically spat, "But you should know... he's seeing someone, apparently" Leanna blanched, "What? Seeing someone?" Mikhel nodded, his eyes deadly serious, "Syd there's rumours he's in a relationship with the Princess, which I know sounds crazy - but... he's not denying it."
Leanna let out a small sigh of releif, her heart rate returning to normal, "Mikhel listen" she held his arm gently, "I appreciate you looking out for me, but I'll be okay. Don't concern yourself with who I'm interested in-" "But I want to" he interrupted. "You don't get it, do you?" he asked, stepping back a bit and running his hand through his hair. There was a shout of alarm, the sounds of people shouting throughout the entire camp, "We have to go!" Leanna said, interrupting Mikhel's speech, but he nodded and they both grabbed their gear and headed to the main group.
The shouting was replaced with organised commands, all troops were being sent into battle - it was time. Leanna's heart was in the throat but she kept herself steady, grabbing her sword and standing in line with all the others. She didn't manage to spot Cole among all the other soliders, but her concern for him vanished when an explosion sent her flying, landing and rolling along the ground among other people. Her ears were ringing, vision blurred, but she stood and readied her sword. The explosion was followed by another that was about half a mile away, hitting another cluster of soldiers. Leanna grimaced and ran forward, following the front line.
She hadn't seen the enemy herself, but there were already wounded soldiers, people retreating and she could hear the clash of swords from all directions. She took a few deep breaths and then launched herself into the midst of it all, she kept up well for someone who had never fought before. Another explosion caught her off guard and she collided with the ground again, her head felt like it was splitting open. She felt someone help her up, carrying her out of the front line, she didn't recognise them. She was put next to some of the other wounded soldiers and whoever was looking after her checked her head, wiping the bood from the back of her neck and ears. The mystery man pocketed the wipe which she thought was weird, but didn't question it. She was in too much pain to bother with that. She heard Finra's voice next, although her vision was still blurry, and her ears still ringing, "I'm fine" she mumbled.
Leanna lost track of time, suddenly waking in a foreign tent, the sky outside dark and a bandage wrapped around her head. She stood shakily, and headed outside, there was still a lot of commotion, and the horizon showed an unnatural purple glow. Leanna stumbled around, trying to find Cole, and came across Azutri and Dramor, both of which were very irritated and Dramor especially seemed to be in pain. Leanna whispered to him, "Hey, hey it's alright. You'll be alright" There was another explosion in the distance, but this time far away from their camp. Yeurna wasn't holding back, and she could see from how everyone here was busy and how they were putting all of her Father's plans into motion. It was terrifying.
"Hey Dramor, do you know where Cole is?" she asked, rubbing the dragon gently, noticing a nasty looking wound on his side. Leanna bid the two goodnight and headed towards the centre. There was a lot going on and Leanna's headache wasn't helping her figure out who was who or what was what, she stumbled into someone, apologising, and carried on. She saw a fire pit and sat down, dizzy and disorientated. Leanna felt exhausted and incredibly down, she hadn't even managed one day in this stupid war without getting hurt and feeling sorry for herself. It was pathetic, part of her wished she was back home in her safe castle. Someone came and sat next to her, "Hey, are you okay?" Mikhel asked, gently placing a hand on her shoulder, "I'm fine" she said meekly, "Feel a bit stupid but other than that..." she gazed into the fire. Mikhel shifted uneasily.
"A lot of people were hurt, not just you, you did great. Pretty sure Sam wanted to thank you before he got called out to help with the recovery." Leanna smiled a little. "I just wish I could do more - I should be out there at the front with a brave face and strong determination. I should be powerful enough to stop all of this..." Mikhel gave her a strange look; "Why would you think any of that? It's not like you're the Queen, right?" The fact that there was no hesitation in his voice told Leanna he still had no idea, and she relaxed her shoulders. "I guess I just wanted to be someone... special" Mikhel smiled, "Don't you worry yourself, you're definitely special to someone"
