The 2017 Reading Challenge

If you have a reading goal for 2017, feel free to talk about it and keep track of it here!

The Goal:

The goal can be anything you want: 1 book in 2017, 10 books in 2017, 25 books in 2017, 50 books in 2017, 100 books in 2017, reading a certain series in 2017, reading a certain number of pages in 2017, reading the same book 50 times in 2017, etc. Your goal is whatever you want and whatever is challenging yet still fun for you. It's a personal challenge, not a contest. So you set your goal and go at your own pace.

The Books:

You can count or not count any books you want. If you want to count audio books, then do it. If not, then don't. If you want to count manga, then do it. If not, then don't. If you want to count magazines, then do it. If not, then don't. If you want to count books for school, then do it. If not, then don't. It's all up to you!

The Rules:

1. Follow KofK's rules.

2. Don't make fun of anyone for having a different goal than you. We all have different obligations, and priorities, and free time, etc, so all of our reading goals are going to be different, and that's ok. One person might easily finish a 500 page book in a few days, while someone else might struggle to finish 500 pages in a few months, and that's ok. We're not racing, rushing, or competing. We're motivating, encouraging, and having fun.

3. If you want to talk about something that happened in a book, put it in a spoiler.

Who Can Join:
Anyone! Just jump in say what your goal is!

Deadline for joining:
Feel free to join in any time before 2018!

My goal for 2017 is actually the same as for 2016 because I failed that. Still trying to work my way through Cantar del mio Cid in the original language.
On the other hand, I had a great year in 2016 for plain old reading random other things, and got a few more stanzas translated of El Cid, so progress is progress, right?
This year, though. This year, MORE progress. This year, maybe ALL the progress?
We'll see.

Do you know a few specific books you want to do for 2017 yet, Sanssouci?

I want to buy or trade for these knuffels:
Earth Gen 18, Light Gen 19, Fire Gen 21, Air/Light/Water Gen 22, Light Gen 23, Earth/Light Gen 25, Darkness Gen 26.
Please PM me if you can help!

Not really, I'm mostly winging it! I started re-reading Fall On Your Knees, but I probably won't finish it until after the 1st, so I'll probably be counting it as one of my 2017 books I have already read.

I'm going for 10 books again in 2017. I didn't make it this year :mcsweat: I had trouble sitting down to read, and I've been having trouble getting through the maze runner because the phasing and the language just irks me a little.

So 10 it is. I got 4 books last year and read most in the last 3 months haha.

I am glad I found this :D I wanted to make a reading challenge for me anyway, so I can keep track of it here! :) That's awesome :)

I cannot really tell how much I read annually.. So I will start "easy" with 25 books. I have to read a lot for university, so I will count that in. But only those for my literature classes, not scientific literature (as I have to write my thesis next semester it would feel like cheating to count those in xD Maybe I will count them separately).

So: 25 books in 2017.

- Includes the Narnia-series. (Finished the first one one week ago already)
- Sherlock Holmes
- 3 Shakespeare plays

Already read:
- Beloved (by Toni Morrison)
- Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (by J.K. Rowling)
- The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (by C.S. Lewis)
- Tracks (by Louise Erdrich)
- The Chronicles of Narnia: The Horse and his Boy
- Sonar un Crimen
- Das Bild (Rose Madder) (by Stephen King)
- Amnesia
- Legilimens! (by C. Bell)
- Re-reading Harry Potter (by Suman Gupta)
- The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
- Seelen by Stephenie Meyer ("The Host")
- Harry Potter Intermedial (by Tobias Kurwinkel et al)
- Harry Potter und der Stein der Weisen ("Sorcerer's Stone")(by J.K. Rowling)
- The Great Gatsby (by Fitzgerald)
- Shining (by Stephen King)
- The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
- Mannen pa stranden / Fotografens död (Swedish)
- The Chronicles of Narnia: The Final Battle

Currently reading:

- Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Russian)

/maybe I'll edit it later on/

That's a great goal!

I'm already behind on mine; I haven't finished any books yet!

Thank you! :)

Oh well it's only one week! :D

I am reading two books right now, one for university and the 2nd Narnia book. I've already read 2 books for my thesis (but only parts).

I'm about halfway done with Fall On Your Knees. And I'm about a quarter done with The Phantom of the Opera.
