I also dislike that people cannot seperate those things. The regisseur is not the author, most of the time at least, so he has different ideas of how everything should look like and how the story should develop. But I have to admit that I sometimes, too, compare book and movie. Like with Narnia now..

I also think I won't be able to finish any more book.
Counting all the books I've read for my thesis I easily achieved my aim of 25 books. Not considering them though makes it 20 books I think.

20 is still quite a number!

I think comparing is natural in this case. you can't help it when it's the same story told in different ways. but I can't stand judging when it's clear that it's a different story. there's a difference between a movie picturing a book and a movie inspired by a book.

I may still finish one more book but that's probably it.

Yea... But I thought 25 would be far beneath my possible achievement... How wrong I was!
But hey, I was busy this year ~

True!
My best example is Vampire Diaries. The books are so different from the series. The first book is probably depicted rather acurately, but the rest... not at all.

I'm well below what I planned on for the year too.

I often read a book because I liked the movie. And sometimes I like the movie better, and sometimes I like the book better, and sometimes I like both equally. So I guess I compare them, but not usually to the point of not liking one just because it's different from the other, you know? Although sometimes it does bug me when something is changed in the movie for literally no reason, especially if it makes the story not as good. Like, if a change makes the story better, or faster, or easier to understand, fine. But if it doesn't do anything and is random, then I'm often like ...why? and then it kind of bugs me!

Totally, I do agree as well!

Right now I am watching the first Narnia movie.. I see everything with different eyes now :D

As for Harry Potter, I do love both, the movies and the books.

I like the Harry Potter books and movies too!

Pride and Prejudice is another where I like both, but only the BBC version of the movie, not the other one!

I am so glad you like both!
I know many people who have read the books first who say the movies are rubbish.. ._. Mean people they are.

Do you mean the Keira Knightley one ? I know both, the BBC and her version. I have to admit I like both, but the BBC one more.
The book is brilliant. A bit boring and exhausting in a few passages, but all in all very well done.

Yeah, I cannot handle the Keira Knightley one lol. I only like the BBC Sense and Sensibility too. I thought I would like the Alan Rickman one, but nope! It's been so long that I don't even remember why. I just know I have this vague hatred of the non BBC versions lol.

I actually got a little reading done yesterday.
