Depends on the game.
Classic lottery, with a 5 digits number, is one out of 100000 - cause there are 100000 numbers and you only have one.
Others are less obvious, we have something here called "primitiva" which has really bad odds - about 1 out of 1.4 millions.

Ouch! those odds are awful. We have Powerball here and I'm pretty sure the odds for that are also super bad.

When I teach probabilities, I always tell my students the same thing:
Whoever designed the game knew how to calculate the odds, and they would not run it as a bussiness model if it were not profitable for them. Therefore there must be more money in (ie spent in tickets) than money out (prizes).
Simple as that.
Of course some are worse than others, but none is really "good" for a hard working person. You're most likely wasting money which you could otherwise spend in other stuff.

Yeah I get it. It’s the reason I don’t like to buy lottery tickets lol. So I don’t. Even when we go visit a casino, I like to sit around and watch and see all the flashy lights. XD
