Happy Birthday, Madissskin! (There's a little cake by your avatar ;p )

we had assigned seats in the first few years of high school and the class plan, which was made by the class's coach, would switch around after a certain amount of time. Plus, for some reason they always tried to have a girl and boy next to each other...
In the later years we could decide for ourself where we were going to sit. Except that some teachers would make a class plan of the seats you chose in the first lesson of the year. But those were the minority.
I always ended up sitting mostly in the front or close to the front, because that were most of the more quiet and well-behaved students were.

That's an extremely unfair and mean way to punish being absent from class! :mcshock: Well, I guess it might be justified for students who are just lazy. But since schools normally don't pay enough attention to their students they're never able to pick out which ones are lazy and which students skip because of other reasons, school shouldn't use that rule! Especially because punishing student who are absent for reasons like anxiety is just wrong. And I'm just going to stop here before I really go on a full-blown rant over how schools suck with keeping an eye on, and helping, students
In the beginning of high school I was sick a lot, so all of my absences were 'excused absences'. According to the doctor it was fatigue causing my immunity system to fail. But I do wonder just how many of that was actually due to me not feeling comfortable around my classmates at all. Fortunately, the classes were switched after the second year and it went uphill from there.

In theory by being boy-girl-boy-girl you're splitting up the friend groups so they aren't gossiping with each other instead of paying attention in class
How well that works depends on the students. Bonus if the teacher can take a class and actually make kids eager to be there, regardless of friend groups

I think that making a class interested is extremely difficult, since the courses at high school are generalised. That is, there are courses students have to do and it doesn't matter whether they want to or not. Although, to be honest, the class could also be an unruly bunch during the chosen subjects... And that did indeed depend partly on the teacher.
Now that I think about it; In the last year of high school the group of students that did geography was too small for two classes, but slightly too big for one class. So the school of course merged the two because it was cheaper and the teacher had no control whatsoever. Than for one lesson we had a different teacher and she kept the class under control and made everyone participate without any trouble...
And you'd be surprised just how many (especially first year) students there are who talk during lectures. I'm really wondering why... I mean they're paying money to go to university and then come to a non-compulsory lecture to just talk?
Hmmm, I guess this just really proves your point :mcheh:

There were many groups of friend with both boys and girls, though... And most of the class got along well enough to talk during class anyway. Or I think that was the case. Since I didn't really like my class of the first 2 years, I wasn't really aware of the finer social interactions going on...

Buh, I should actually be working on an essay assignment, but I have no motivation whatsoever :mcgloom: And I really want to watch the new Lucifer episode, instead

Chances are it's not their money, but their parents' money, so they don't care

Speaking of college yakking, mom used to teach ASL. Had this group of jocks ignore her warnings to pay attention because they were jocks they didn't care
They cared soon as she told them that she knew their coaches, and if they didn't knock it off and pay attention, she'd talk to them and get them benched
And they listened. If they hadn't, they would've learned that it wasn't a hollow threat, either. The coaches at that college (at the time, at least) were very serious about even jocks learning

Thanks for the birthday wish!

Some classes also tend to do better with different times. I had one in high school that monday/tuesday/friday it was 1st thing in the morning but when it got flipped to last of the day, the teacher couldn't handle it, since we became a bit more energized and unruly.

As a drumline kid, talking to our band director was surprisingly scary. I loved drumline. He kept the 20ish of us in line.

I will love you if I never see you again, and I will love you if I never see you again, and I will love you if I see you every Tuesday. I will love you as the starfish loves a coral reef and as kudzu loves trees, even if the oceans turn to sawdust and the trees fall in the forest without anyone around to hear them. I will love you as the pesto loves the fettuccini and ats the horseradish loves the miyagi, and the pepperoni loves the pizza.

When I read 'jocks', I immediately thought of the stereotypical jerk-jocks from series and stuff... Sounds like I wasn't too far off?
During fieldwork we had a group of students from our student union/association coming over to the camping where we were staying and making a lot of noise during the night. When we complained to our professor in the morning he was absolutely pissed of and apparently told the group that he would make sure that they wouldn't be able to finish their study if they did that again. That was a hollow threat, because he wouldn't be able to do that, but the students were quiet the next night! :mclol:

Did you have a nice Birthday, Madissskin?

It's true indeed that the time does influence how students behave. Also, classes that were longer than the usual 50 minutes suffered from unfocused and annoyed students towards the end. Double so when they also were the last few hours of the day :mcheh:
Even at university everyone is quite unruly during the last few hours on Friday. But we had a teacher once who gave out cookies every Friday afternoon, so that made it better~

Hey, you have a new avatar~
What hair type are you using? It looks cool :qlov:

I did have a good birthday! Sorry I've been out of town, and not on my computer. I went on a road trip with the most inconsiderate asshats ever. Don't bring drugs into my car, don't have sex in a shared space (Airbnb), don't fight, and lastly don't smoke your illegal drugs inside.

My hair is the casino hair! It was a fairy coin treasure trove thing a few months bakc and I'm digging the blue and yellow combo tbh.

How have you been?

Ugh, those people sound extremely annoying! :mcangry: But did they actually have sex in a room with other people in it? That's hardly romantic... On top of being just plain rude and inconsiderate!
But did you have a fun trip regardless?

Bummer, that means that getting a hold of it is going to be difficult.

My life is currently completely being absorbed by an anime/manga. I don't know why, but I just really love it. It's Akatsuki no Yona, btw. Other than that, I'm fine. Especially considering it's close to the end of a block when workload is usually super high, but not this time!
But, how are you (except for being annoyed by stupid people)?

Our airBnb was a basement apartment with 2 rooms, a couch den place and a bathroom. My dearest best friend who is also my gay ex boyfriend and i decided we didnt like them and went to go wander. we had fun. He apparently hasnt told his mom that we broke up 3 years ago because she called me and asked if her boy had a "raincoat" (condom) which i thought was funny.

Ive never seen a ton of anime! ive seen ouran high and angel beats. Im glad youre having a good time with it!

Im pretty good! My mom is my boss at work so she just made next weeks schedule go from 25 hours to 40 for me since shes mad at me at home. Im a bit peeved about that, but thats alright. For my painting class we have to do 40 painting and i have a month to do 15 more so I'm currently a bit paint stained.

It's great that you had fun, regardless of the annoying people!

Oh, but Ouran high school is also fun!

That's a weird retaliation; giving more work... But do you get paid for the work? And if yes, do you get extra for the extra hours?
Wow, 40 paintings is a lot! :mcshock: How much time dis you have in total for those?

Buh, gathering spring points goes slow... Especially considering the amount of points needed to buy all the items in all colours.
