We haven't had home internet for most of the past two years. Most of our city didn't have internet or cable for nearly three months.

Hurricane Michael tried to blow us off the map. Our apartment was unlivable. We went to my SiL's house in Alabama for a little over a week, then came back to Florida with nowhere to stay. They couldn't restore power to our apartment because there was too much damage. We took my daughter to a friend's house, but hubby and I stayed in the dark, hot apartment for a couple of nights before finding some friends who could take us in (we did at least have the water back on by then).

Then we had some other friends who had a recently vacated rental that we were able to move into. It's a nice little townhouse and was the only one out of sixteen that didn't need a new roof after the storm. It had power as we were getting moved in but then a neighbor cut down a tree that fell on the power lines and damaged the wall on the end unit where all the utilities for our building are. We were on a generator from November to February, then on a temporary power pole until May. We had internet for a while after that, but it was too expensive. We're now using a nearby hotspot or tethering on our phones. It's not the best, but you can't beat the price.

I can manage for a couple of days, but at some point, I'd be heading to either the library or McDonald's. I have people who I check in with regularly who would start to worry if I went on radio silence for too long.

It depends. Entertainment wise, as much as I love it, I would not miss it and could easily go through rest of my life without it, most likely.

However, I am not sure how I would deal with the lack of the ability to pay bills without going out. I also hate shopping so internet allows me to get all necessities without having to deal with people. Both of those are lifesavers for my mental health.

So mobile data is alright? I can go for quite a while, though not sure how long I can exactly last. For me it's just important I can contact friends, play Pokémon GO (no mobile data = can't last a full day, I need to do my dailies, and I can still play single player stuff.. I find it hard to make a good guess, but definitely days. Not sure about a week.
