So someone sent me a link recently to the Hagglethorn Hollow kickstarter (Tabletop Troubadour Games' first production), and it's making me wish I had disposable income.

And that got me wondering how many other people here use Kickstarter as the modern equivalent of Window Shopping.

Those things that you know you can't get, but you wish you could, and you enjoy looking at even when you know you can't get them.
(Like a custom knuffel from Firn. Wouldn't that be amazing!)

So if anyone else has seen (old finished campaigns are, frankly, better from my point of view than ongoing ones) other such kickstarter willpower tests, I'd love to hear about them / see them / look them up from details you give.

I can't spend money like that, but I can at least enjoy looking. :qwhee:

Please PM me if you can help!

I don't think I've actually looked at a whole lot of kickstarters.
There's been a few, but I also don't have disposable income so I haven't contributed.

I know a few people who have though. One of my friends contributed to a big game it cost like a hundred bucks. Too intense for me.

I must admit, I have never browsed Kickstarter that way, only gone to it from links that I see on places I follow, like Girl Genius.

The one I truly regret is Flight Rising, which I did not learn about the Kickstarter until six or seven months after it was funded. I was SO DISTRESSED!!! I had disposable income back then and I would have totally put money in for several of those rewards. I still mourn that five years later.

I don't browse Kickstarter that often because I feel it's too full of random projects that'll never be fulfilled. I think I've backed 4 projects, and only 2 actually did anything (poker deck with cute animals, and the tabletop RPG Golden Sky Stories which is somehow still sending updates for new stuff to this day).

The one thing I will sometimes spend money on for Kickstarters is when online artists/authors I follow are trying to fund a print edition of their works.

So far only one has failed to fund.

The one I'm really looking forward to is for when Bookwyrms Comic ends up putting together a book.

Love that one.

It's still hard to justify the expense, but... if I save up, and know one is coming in a year or two I can usually manage.
