Being in a rual area I've heard a lot of country plus alt contry, cow punk, etc. (which seem to be so conviently left out; the measure Bilboard's using is country pop or country rock), so IMO genres always evolve. They should or else it becomes uninteresting to listen to anymore. The criteria they use against this song would invalidate many older country songs and those that invoke the country songs. Country rap can be a thing.
How about everyone else?
